Thank you... Its so tough to find a picture I like, ya know? I thought I should post it since people say I look so different with my new 'do (although I've had it 6 months). So just in case someone does want to look for me at conference, they'll know what I look like.

Away was less than accurate. I was still around home, but trying to get some work done at work.

And I have a new obsession. I started making jewelry. A coworker is big into beading, and got me hooked. I made cell charms for the ladies in my cluster (our meeting is tonight). They have white heart-shaped beads with the breast cancer ribbon on them, and the lanyard itself (that hooks to the phone) is pink. They're so cute!! I just ordered $200 of beads and findings (earring hooks, etc). I think I'm going to make some things up and sell them on eBay.

Today I'm wearing a fabulous jewelry ensemble I made last weekend. It consists of a 4-strand lariat necklace, a bracelet and earrings, in animal-print beads. It's stunning, if I do say so myself. I could probably sell it for $100 for the set (easily), and I spent about $50 on the beads and supplies for it.

Well, it really is cute! Or should I say YOU are?!

Anyway, I was wondering if you were posting so much today to make sure we would all see your new pic or if it was to get your post number back up.

:p :p

(Just trying to give you a hard time.)

Wow, Anne, don't think I'd recognize you...you look so different to me (from your previous avatar!)

Can you post some pictures? Just curious what they look like!

Anne, I started to think I was looking for the wrong person last year @ conference. Maybe this year we could actually meet.

Ann I would like to see some pics of your jewelry too, please!!

So is the Betty Crocker clinic, in case anyone needs rehab.

  • #864
I think that's a big Crocker baloney.

  • #865
What is baloney made out of anyway? I know of no animal called a baloney. :p

So true. BTW Rae, I stole your quote! I have it on my sig line in my emails now (along with "My goal is to help you reach yours" - which I think I made up but I'm sure someone else said it sometime. ). Thanks!

It's made from abalone that is grade B instead of grade A, hense, B-abalone.

  • #869
Ya know, I was going to say something about abalone cause I knew you'd come up with this answer!:p

  • #870
That sounds kinda fishy to me.

You can't steal what's freely given, Beth. Zig Ziglar is an inspiration!

Hmmm. Bumping the thread just to keep me from killing it, Beth?

  • #875
Never gonna let you win. Why not just give up now and save yourself all that pesky typing and posting?

  • #876
Well, I think we're not alone in that but I'll keep on trying as I know you will.:p

  • #877
You're a worthy competitor!

  • #878
As are you! Now go find something else to do and let me have the last word here!

  • #879
Thanks for the oh, so good advice, but I think I'll stick around a little longer.

  • #880
Darn! I thought you might!:p

  • #881
Oh, wow, you almost got this thread killed. Too bad for you that I'm so persistent.

  • #883
You guys are too much!

  • #884
Hey, Beth, didn't you have a long list of things you needed to do? I think you should probably shut down your computer and get right to work on those things. You don't want to fall behind. I'm just concerned for you. Wouldn't want all that work to pile up because you were here.

Sheryl Crowe is nuts. Her Stop Global Warming College Tour website features her own personal blog and she's telling us, amongst other things, that we need to only use on square of toilet paper per sitting and stop using paper napkins. She proposes that we all have a "dining sleeve" that is replaceable after we wipe our mouths on our sleeve.Check out her http://www.sherylcrow.com/news.aspx?nid=7786. The Save The Earth tour includes 3 tractor trailers, 4 busses and 6 automobiles. (This is part of the "Do as I say, not as I do" syndrome of celebrities who know better than we do how we should live.)And Lance Armstrong dumped his wife for this nut? I don't like him a whole lot anymore, either.

  • #886
My DS had a little joke about how to use just one sheet of toilet paper. It was funny but disgusting! Hmm. I'm curious just how much TP all those people traveling in all those vehicles use each day. I'm not volunteering for the research; just curious.

How about the banning of plastic grocery bags in San Francisco? The purpose, according to environmentalists, is to stop filling up dumps with plastic that doesn't degrade - this from the same people who told us, twenty years ago, that we had to use plastic bags to stop using trees (a renewable resource) to make brown paper bags.Am I the only one getting tired of people telling me how I'm supposed to live?Personally, I hate those plastic grocery bags - if you need any, feel free to come to my house and take all you want from the hedges and trees.

  • #888
No, you're not the only one getting tired of others telling you how to live. My DH and I have had this discussion several times lately.

As for the bags, I found a solution. I carry laundry baskets and a couple of insulated bags (one for cold, the other for frozen) in the back of my van on "marketing" day. At most stores I request no bags at all when asked, "Paper or plastic?"

One store insists that their baggers put little red dots on everything that isn't in a bag. For that store I have a few net bags I use. Only at Wal-Mart do I receive plastic bags. They won't let me use "nothing," and I got tired of the third degree about my net bags. It's okay, though. I can find a use for the few Wally World bags.

My grandmother always used to carry canvas tote bags to the little store in her town - this was prior to the 1970's and she had to make her own because there weren't 14 sizes and colors from Lands' End or anywhere else. I've carried my own canvas tote bags to the grocery store myself (when I remember) and usually get looks from teenage packers that are usually reserved for the uncoolest kids at school. When I stop at Wally World (or anywhere else that uses plastic) for one or two items, I demand they not use a bag and usually remark, "One less bag to throw away." The idea of putting one or two things in a bag drives me nuts.

Do you crochet? I have a pattern at home for a reusable shopping bag that's made out of plastic shopping bags. It uses 2 colors (white and blue) to make stripes. So you actually need some from Wally World and some from another store. :)

  • #891
Nope. I am not craftily inclined. I tried learning to crochet several years ago. I am obviously not talented enough to develop this skill. (I used to do some cross-stitch, though, before I signed on with PC. Not a lot of time for that anymore.)

  • #892
Learning to crochet is one of those things that require many different teaching techniques. I crocheted for a short time when I was a kid, then retaught myself more than 20 years later from a book. My Aunt tried to learn from the same book, and couldn't get it - even with help from my mom and me. But she took a knitting class and loves it!

My problem is that I pick up a new craft and buy all sorts of supplies, then lose interest and have a stockpile of things I'll not use in a long time.

Sounds little personal, KG. I'd prefer not to read posts about your crotch, thank you very much.

That wasn't what I meant, but since you mentioned it, why not? I get about 20 e-mails a day about it.

First lactating and now your crotch?!? And I don't think I want to know WHY you get 20 emails a day about it.
