In summary, the conversation discusses the thread killers and how they often act. One person talks about how they are a thread killer on another forum and another person talks about how they are a thread killer on a Mac forum. Finally, someone talks about being a thread killer again.

<Whisper>

Hey Ann,
Did you notice that no one has been on here since about 830pm last night except me and you? Don't tell anyone </whisper>

  • #1,852
Well, that's just because I had The Furry Guy's family over. However, the family's gone, the groundhog has been eaten (tastes like a cross between beef and venison, in case you were wondering), and I'm back.

I've done mystery shopping the same way. My favorite was Old Chicago. They send you $40 in Gift Certificates to spend on food, then pay you $10 also. If you go during happy hour, on Kids eat Free night (2 kids for each adult), you get a very fun night out, plus $10!

  • #1,854
Cool. Not cool enough to kill this thread, but, still cool.

  • #1,855
So, you know what's sad? I have twice as many posts in this thread as my total posts on the forum DH moderates/runs.

  • #1,856
That's not sad. That's impressive.

  • #1,857
So impressive that you'll let me kill this thread?please, please, please?

  • #1,858
Kill it!

Stubborn ladies!!

  • #1,859
Ladies aren't stubborn. We're emphatically persistent. And, Ann? Uh, no.

  • #1,860
It's the energizer bunny, it's just keeps going and going and going and going.....

And, Ann? Uh, no.
That's right... persistant!

  • #1,862
I think persistance is in the eyes of the beholder!

That's because we are much more fun (and probably a lot cuter) than the crazy people on the other forum!

  • #1,864
Katie, I love your answer.

It's true! It's SOOOOOOOO true!

The other forum has a lot of perpetually offended people who start flame wars if you post an opinion that doesn't align with theirs. DH even started an offshoot of The Lounge for threads that were likely to start fights: The War Room. Interestingly, once that opened up and there was a place to put incendiary topics, they almost completely died off.

  • #1,866
Well, yeah. It's not nearly as much fun to cause trouble when it's been officially sanctioned.

  • #1,867
That's DH's theory, too. Well, that and you have to request access to the War Room - it doesn't show up automatically when you register.

  • #1,868
Clearly that's too much effort for bomb-throwers. You know, the people who make an incendiary comment, then sit back and watch the devastation.

  • #1,869
Kinda like breaking open a pinata at a birthday party for LOTS of little kids... watching them scramble can be quite funny...

  • #1,870
There aren't too many of those on the forum. But there are a couple of people who, if it were available, would be on my ignore list. (DH runs a different forum software package, and it doesn't have an ignore feature.)

  • #1,871
I guess that means you just have to ignore them the old fashioned way.

  • #1,872
Huh? What? I'm sorry, did you say something?

  • #1,873
Did who say something? Aren't Katie and I the only people here?

Just kidding, Rae! I'd never ignore you! Not that I COULD... :D

  • #1,874
The voices are talking to me again...

  • #1,875
Saw this on a t-shirt once:

The voices in my head don't like you.

  • #1,876
I like the one that says...

You're just jealous because the voices talk to me and not you.

  • #1,877
You mean those voices aren't normal?

  • #1,878
Don't know about everyone else, but I think they are normal

  • #1,879
Well, you would. :D

Hugs! Love ya! (BTW, did you get the PM with Amanda's address to send the buttons?)

  • #1,880
Hey - the voices are usually right, so I don't fight it anymore!

Yep, just found it... I'll send them to her Wednesday.

  • #1,881
And still the thread lives on.

  • #1,882
My voices are telling you to stop posting...

  • #1,883
Your voices are on my ignore list. :D

  • #1,884
HA!!! ROFLMAO!!!!! Gotta remember not to drink and read with Rae around! Almost killed the monitor with my tea with that one!

  • #1,885
I'd apologize, but I'm not really that sorry. ;)

  • #1,886
Yeah. we can tell.

  • #1,887
Wasn't real surprised with that one, Rae!

  • #1,888
Morning All!
Guess you guys finally had to get some sleep, huh?

  • #1,889
Actually, I did have a good sleep last night... thanks for asking!

  • #1,890
Wow, I get busy at work and can't log on, and look at how you people let this thread slide. Tsk, tsk. Guess I'll have to kill it now.

  • #1,891
Nope, if you actually let work take precedent over CS, then you don't get to kill this!

  • #1,892
I should get to kill it. I just got home from a very weird show.

  • #1,893
We need more details on this show ASAP Ann! You can't post something like you did and leave for the night... now I'm gonna have to get up early and hope you posted while I was asleep :)

  • #1,894
I agree with Alison... and just for that, I'm here to make sure you don't get to kill the thread.

Oh, wait, Alison already took care of that with her post, so... never mind, but you still don't get to kill it.

  • #1,895
She's just waiting till we all go to sleep and then she'll post about her show.

  • #1,896
Oh well, Alison is getting up bright and early to not let Ann kill this... RIGHT ALISON!

  • #1,897
Stay on this thread. It's safe. I was just on the Animal Owner Etiquette thread. It is scary!

  • #1,898
I know what you mean... I was just there and it is getting a bit nasty... started out fairly harmless, but people have such strong opinions that it is getting out of control.

  • #1,899
It doesn't count that I got up and got on here before work in order to make sure you had today's "Days Until Wave 2" post? Trust me, I'd rather be here than at my day job.I'm a temp, but I've been at the same temp job for over a year. Yes, they want to hire me. No, I don't want a full-time, permanent position. I especially do not want to work permanently with a co-worker who feels free to rifle through my personal belongings and eavesdrop on my private phone calls (taken outside during a break, while she, apparently, listened at the door while not on a break. Good use of work time. Right?) And, before you ask, yes the people up the food chain know what she has done. They have proof. So, The Furry Guy and I have discussed this. When I arrive at NC, I will be done with this temp job! I'll be letting my temp agency know that July 6 will be my last day on this assignment. Thankfully, they don't really have trouble placing me, and it doesn't hurt me at all to end an assignment. Technically, this assignment was to last until about June 30, 2006. They kept asking me to stay. I stayed for lots of reasons, including the fact that I feel I make a difference there. The problems have really developed over the last month or so. This co-worker is out of control. Frankly, I've lost respect for the company. Wow. Venting feels good. And now, with this long, boring post, I can finally kill this thread.

That sounds like a good situation to be out of, Rae. I know how "temp" jobs can become semi-permanent (I was at one job through Kelly Services for 3 years, and my current job is basically as a high-tech temp).hmmmm.... my weird show...6 people there, including the host, her boyfriend, her deaf adult daughter, and her 13-year-old friend from the neighborhood. Very small condo/apartment - we were in the living room. Two bookings - the deaf daughter and the 13-year-old (both to be held in the same residence as this one, both in July before the host moves to Grand Rapids - do you want her, Becky?). The host is on oxygen and can't go up and down stairs easily. Her bathroom was upstairs. Halfway through the show (luckily, I did a no-demo show so it was really short!) she decides she has to relieve herself, but doesn't want to go all the way upstairs. So she proceeds to use the potty chair (the kind they sell at a medical supply shop for invalids) that's on the landing of the stairs - which are in the living room! She just kept telling us, "Nobody turn around!" I haven't entered the orders yet - they probably don't add up to $150 yet.
