Boost Your Success with 3-2-1 Accountability: A Productivity Diary

In summary, Sandy is trying to do 3-2-1 but has trouble getting to 4 contacts a week. Paulette is trying to do 3-2-1 but is not doing well with only 2 shows per month. JAE is trying to do 3-2-1 7 days a week.
  • #301
I ended up working on packets and other general organization and then the day flew by today. I have yet to get any phone calls done on a Saturday, maybe someday. . I know that I now have to commit to making calls tomorrow evening. (now is the time for my booking blitz). I only have 2 shows scheduled for August and hoping and praying to increase that to at least 4 to 6 shows.

Talk to you all tomorrow.

  • #302
Paulette,

I have a hard time getting too involved and I know it is hard after I am already committed but is there anyway to get someone to take over one of the things you have made a commitment? I know it is very hard to do since so few actually offer to help but you might try. Another thought is to see if someone will work with you on something you have committed.

If you decrease how much you do maybe you will be able to get your mind back on to what you need to do. I had to ask myself some questions about what I wanted and why in order to finally decrease those commitments.

Good luck,
Kim

  • #303
It really doesn't take very long to get the three contacts done. We just procrastinate. That takes time! Commit to calling for 15 minutes straight, and get contacts in with in person people while volunteering or running errands.

  • #304
I hear you there!!! I have the problem that when I sit down to make calls I spend too much time trying to decide. Should I call this person first or that one? That one wanted to a book a show but is never home. This one seemed excited. Blah, blah, blah - KIM PICK IT UP AND DIAL. I need to hang a sign that says JUST DO IT!

  • #305
So this week was pretty bad for me for my contacts, however I just figured out all the days I want to work for the rest of the year and I have only 1 Aug date left to book (with 2 people who expressed interest in Aug shows that I haven't gotten a hold of yet) and I have 8 dates available in September, 1 filled and 3 hosts who for sure want September bookings but I didn't know my schedule when they booked and 1 maybe! Plus I may have 1 while I am in Texas for my alumni homecoming thing! I am so excited!

All it took was one big booking blitz (only 20 calls made -- I only called my yes' and maybe's) and a few phone calls/contacts a day for 2 weeks! I have a feeling that I am definitely on my way to a strong fall/winter selling season!

Tomorrow evening I am going over to my director's to play with new products and I told her we should make some calls together :) before we look at new products

So for anyone who thinks it can't be done (I used to be one of you!) with a few weeks of work it totally can be done! Yes it sucks in the beginning (it took my director and I making a bet to see who could make the most calls in one afternoon and we put $15 on the table for it!), but it gets easier and easier. I have just found that if I make a few calls when I have a few minutes (i.e. while waiting to get my hair cut I made a few calls) it is a whole lot easier than trying to "schedule" time to make the contacts. Much less painless with less time stressing over it this way!

Sorry for the long post, but I have just never looked at a calendar this full for myself!

  • #306
I am new, so forgive me....

BUT, explain thie 3-2-1 thing please!!

Jessica

  • #307
okay...

3-2-1 means:
3 contacts a day
2 shows a week
1 recruit a month

By doing 3-2-1 you will be pretty much guaranteeing yourself earning everything out there (i.e. Sell-A-Thons, Incentive Trip, Top Performance Cluster, directorship, etc). Now we have come to use 3-2-1 to also stand for just getting your 3 contacts a day, as that is the basis to getting those shows booked and the recruits signed. make sense?

  • #308
Who do you call?

  • #309
It doesn't have to be just calls. It is contacts in general (meaning anybody you talk to in your life about PC - bank, at lunch, etc). For you, since you just started, it would be your list of 100, then after your first shows it would be morning after calls, out of the box calls (search for those terms in threads or files and you will find lots of info on them), follow-up calls, etc.

Alison~

Did you win the $15? :0)

  • #311
I did my 3+ contacts today even though I had a memorial service to go to! Now that I couldn't believe! I got a Catalog show for Sept! Yea! Also got a catalog show for August! I was really wanting the August (cooking show would've been best but I'll take the catty show) because I only had 2 for August! Usually I'm too busy on Sundays, but I'm going to the beach after church so I'll be bringing some catalogs and a pinch of boldness with me!

Nope... my director made 1 more call than me

We told our senior director about the challenge and told her our numbers at our pre-conference party and as soon as I said how many contacts I made she and my director started laughing as we were so flippin' close! Oh well... it was worth definitely worth it for the motivation to get my fall looking like it is!

  • #314
I take weekends off and figure if I make any contacts it's extra. I was hanging out with a lot of people for the whole weekend and doing the food outside thing. I used my Chillzanne rect server, cutting board, trifle bowl, FC knives, peeler and crinkle cutter. I was advertising! Tomorrow is vacation day, too, but I'll make at least one contact with the friend I'm going with. I'll either call before I leave or call extra on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll check in here tomorrow night. We're going to an amusement park/water park all day. Too hot to wear my PC shirt, but maybe I'll talk to some people in lines the.

You know I just had an AH HA moment and flash back to the Lyn Conway class. Remember the part about the good angel / bad angel. I soooo need to get that Bad angel to go AWAY!!! It sits on my shoulder all day telling me its not worth it... to make calls... to try to loose weight ... to clean my house... BLA..bal...bla... I need to shut it up for good!! I have had enough allready!

Wow I'm actually getting emotional ..... I guess that's why Conference hit me so close to home this year. Everything that was said was so true. I can make it happen if I have the desire and I Just do it! I can dream it but I have to make it happen. It's up to me but it's ABOUT them!!!

OK gals lets get those action plans workin!

Here's a little "help" I passed along to my team. Go to the dollar store or WalMart and get those medicine containers that have the 7 days of the week (KWIM?) - you can get them for $1 - and put in 3 M&M's or 3 mints or 3 pennies or whatever and each time you make a contact you get to take one out (and eat it if it's food). If you don't make all 3 calls you move them over to the next day.

It's a great way to track whether you are really making the contacts or not.

I like that too! I'll have to try it! Of course, the real trick will be to keep my 7 year old out of it!:)

Okay, I did my 3-2-1 today. My potential recruit doesn't want to meet with me until after August 5th. No biggie. I know it has to be on their own time. She would be really great at PC though.

I've also been busy trying to close out my last two shows! I need to submit them tomorrow!

I had two people give me "out of the blue" orders today also! No bookings today but still trying!

How's everyone else doing? Not a lot of action on here today! Maybe you were all busy making your calls???

  • #324
I have been having the AH HA moment going on too and flash back from conference as well... my biggest problem is the fear of the phone... I really hate them with a passion... don't' ask me how I work in an office setting for 15 plus years answering the phones... But even their I hate calling people with a passion........

Then I really got an AH HA moment when I received a letter from my executive director today asking me how she could help me reach my dreams faster than the goals that I wrote down at conference!!! :) That made me think wait a sec their just people and people can say no... but that doesn't' stop me from trying!!! SO to the phones I go tomorrow after work..... though But to the phones I go!!! I can do it!! I desire it and I can taste it more than anything right now!!

Thanks for the support system ya'll it helps a great deal!! :D

Okay, I've been off the site for a few days, so let me catch you up.

Saturday I had a show. I talked with everyone about booking/recruiting. Got one August show and left recruiting materials with host. She's sitting at just under $500. We'll close Friday, and I expect to have $600 in commissionable sales. I came home and got some things done. I talked with a few people, but that didn't come to anything.

I don't usually do Sunday shows, but a couple of times a year I make an exception. Frankly, it was a bit disappointing because she asked me to bring enough for 30 people, but only 5 showed up. (She said her family doesn't RSVP; they just show up. Guess this is the one time they didn't. :( ) Of those, 2 left early! (One hugged me, though. I kind of liked that.) We'll close on Wednesday. Right now she has $400 in sales (She had several outside orders.) She's planning to have at least $500 in sales. One of her guests is considering direct sales, so I gave her a recruiting pack. I also left a recruiting pack with my host.

I was completely drained by the time I got home, so I didn't do any additional calls. (I don't usually do Sunday calls, anyway.)

I slept almost all of Monday. I think I have a kidney infection. (Sorry if that's TMI.) So, I didn't make any calls on Monday. I feel a lot better this morning. However, I did get a call Monday evening from someone I've never met. She lives about 45 minutes from me. Her friend's mom had a party with me and gave her my information. We scheduled a party for late August. Oh, yeah, and she's definitely interested in becoming a PC consultant!

Back to my 3-2-1 today!

Good for you Rae. I love your posts. They always encourage me to keep going.
I'm running out of steam. I've called almost all if not all my past customers and am back to "cold calling" from my list of 100. I really dislike that.
JUST DO IT!

I finished sending 100 postcards to potential and past hosts regarding visiting my booth at the county fair and advertising the aug/sept specials.

I played in the water with my kids and did a bit of housework.

  • #329
I've been reporting on other posts - but I've been busy the last few days. I had shows this past Thurs and Friday nights and a booth at our County Fair on Sunday. I got one definite booking for September , another very interested in booking late September as well (will call towards end of August), and 2 possible booking from the Fair - will call tomorrow to follow up. Had a host reschedule from August to September (due to an emergency appendectomy this past Friday) and one past host rebook for September after she received my newsletter yesterday with the specials (so I have 4 solid Septemer bookings with hopefully 2-3 more to follow and one potential for October as well. Also 2 friends who are past hosts want to do Fall as well - we have to pick some dates - I'm excited cause this is the busiest I've been in a while (I've had a pretty steady year but it's certainly picking up steam! Full Steam Ahead!!:)

You guys are doing great!

Okay.....

Made lots of calls today! I had to close out my last two shows! I didn't make the 3K for the free stuff but I did just submit my highest show ever! It's all thanks to God and the person on CS that posted the flyer for the $1000K mystery host catalog show!

I also got a booking for September! (although it's not officially in the book she knows she wants that cookware special!)

One of my other September bookings moved up to August. ( I was really wanting another August so that's a good thing!)

I also collected an order from a lady in Las Vegas that got my number from my SIL.

I'd say today was hectic but very productive.

  • #331
Was tuckered out by the end of the day on Tuesday, so I only made a few calls. Did get my 3 contacts in, but two of those were people who asked me to call back another time. (We did set a specific time for me to call, so it wasn't a brush-off.)

Better things today. I'm sure of it.

I am over it........... !!!I am over my phone phobia- After suffering from it since I started my business (October, 05) I am officially cured!!!! I committed to make 3 calls a day, when I came home from conference, and then upped it to 5 calls a day since listening to Lyn Conway's "Language of Success" CD's, and it has made such a difference in my business. I make up my call list in the morning, after devotions, and after praying for God to bless my efforts. I have been consistent for 1 week, and I have booked 12 SHOWS!!!!!!. I keep calling scripts at my desk, and decide which one to use before I dial. At first I thought it sounded forced, but I did it anyway, and now it is no deal. I break up my phone times into daytime, and early evening, and I have been so successful, and even those who do not book, usually seem glad to hear from me. I am using these calls to update them on specials, and also just make that personal connection. I really do think that is what will make or break your business, the personal connection. My next goal is to ask for referrals with each call. The cd's of Lyn Conways are amazing, and I downloaded the workbook pages, which have helped alot also.

That's awesome! Hopefully I can "get over it" too! I'm not that nervous anymore, but I am frustrated by the amount of answering machines I get. It's hard to line up my available call time with the time people are actually home. I'm still working on it though!

  • #335
Talked to a few people in person. Made my calls. I'll be calling one back in about an hour to schedule her show!

Oh, yeah, and I closed that show from Sunday. Just transmitted it with $577 in commissionable sales. Woo hoo!

I'm SOOO stinkin excited!!! I just called a few people and i got 2 shows for August, a church show and a fair for this month too .. and in Sept I got 3 shows and a possible catalog show! I swear when I tell people about the cookware sale they go crazy!! I'm so excited, this is the busiest I"ve been in months!!!!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHH

  • #339
Okay...made my calls today. Finally. I almost didn't make it because of those pesky answering machines!

One call was a potential Sept wedding shower. Her soon to be SIL said no! She doesn't want to have a regular show either.

Another call got me a September booking! It's actually in my book! That makes 4 so far for September! I want 8 so I have some more calls to make!

The rest of the calls were host/customer care calls. No bookings etc.

  • #341
I'm here. I'm ignoring this thread because I'm not having a very productive week. Hopefully, I'll get back to everyone tomorrow with good news of reaching my 3 contact/day goals. One contact Monday and one contact today. I guess I need to make 10 contacts tomorrow. Oooo, that could be bad. Guess I'd better make my list.

  • #342
I feel for you JAE! The only reason I've been on it so well is because I have a lot of contacts from the recent shows I just did. When those run out, it's beck to cold calls! Yuck!

Good Luck everyone!

  • #343
Well, I was able to make two calls today. Nothing came of them.:( I also left another message for a potential recruit and told her that I don't want to bug her anymore so if she is still interested to give me a call. (Said it much nicer and warmer than that:p ) So a pretty unproductive day.

Tomorrow is another day though! I really want to get another booking for August and more for September!

  • #344
I had an pretty unproductive day, well week for that matter. I need to get off my heiny and call. I think I am going to wait to make calls until Sunday, as with the whole bridge collapsing today, the only thing on people's minds is this, so I will limit my contacts to those in person and make calls on Sunday and make sure to ask if everyone they know is okay and then come to the topic at hand.

So, JAE, does that mean that if we haven't heard from you in a couple of days we need to go looking for you? ;) Don't forget that this is also a great place to receive the (gentle, loving) kick in the tush you need when you're not being productive. :)

Alison, in your part of the country, I think we'll allow you a day or two to get back to work mode. This is a tragic event.

  • #346
Yes, you probably need to come looking for me and give me a gentle kick in the tush (maybe not too gentle). I actually have been limiting my time on CS because I could sit here and read for hours.
This morning I did make three calls and actually spoke to one of those people. She booked a show on September 20 something (too lazy to get up and look at my calendar). That was a great start to my day.

  • #347
Yesterday, I pulled up to grab a paper from one of those paper stands, (you know you feed it quarters and you lift it up and get a paper, I didn't feel like going in anywhere with 2 children wanting to get home) well, as I was turning around, I heard a voice I know and realized it was a host that I've done 2 shows with who loves the cookware! Well, you know that I had to book her right there! And I did, I'm so glad that I make an effort to carry my catalogs and planner with me all the time!!! I'm being "intensional!! (sp?) :D
I need to really stick to my 3-2-1 plan! I'm trying to stay off this site more, cause I get caught up in here and then I don't want to work!
But I do love this site and all of you especially for supportive threads like this!

I haven't made all 3 contacts yet, but I made one and got a Catalog show for September!

Does the contact count if it's calling a customer to find out why her card wouln't go through? :0)
