Perkins run! That was the late-night study session battle-cry at my college. Also after theatrical productions. We'd drive the 20 miles to the nearest Perkins, order bottomless coffee and a dessert, and sit for hours.

Looking back, I feel sorry for the wait staff.

We lived in the apartment building right at 14 mile and I-75 for 2 1/2 years. Moved there in August of 1993. We were right next to the theatre and across the street from Chi Chi's (not sure what's there now). We could see the high school from our 7th floor apartment, and we could see buildings in downtown Detroit on most days. I used to work at the YMCA on 11 mile in Royal Oak near Woodward. I had my first baby at Royal Oak Beaumont. For about the last 6 months of living there we lived on the 4th floor (two bedrooms).

ROFLOL! There used to be one in Racine, they've since all closed up. When I had a group of engineers there from Mexico, we drove past it and they asked if it was the local strip club. I said, "No, it is a mexican restaurant." They all cracked up because it was basically like us calling a restaurant Hooters since Chi-chis was their slang for a woman's chest...

OMG! I know RIGHT where that is! The AMC theater is now a computer store (go figure), and the Chi-Chi's is just vacant. The Star theater is still there, though. (I KNOW that was open before '93 because when I was home for Thanksgiving my senior year of college we drove in Dan's "new" convertible to the Star with the top down. That was November '92.)

I grew up in a house on 14 Mile, about 1 1/2 miles west of there - between Campbell and Rochester Roads.
