Embarking on a New Odyssey - Hbot

In summary, tomorrow is the beginning of a new experience for me, something I never dreamed existed, let alone, thought I would need. Tomorrow morning, I am going diving, the first of 30 dives I must make. HBOT increases blood oxygenation and promotes capillary growth.

Well, it's Monday morning - back to the highway and back into the tank.See y'all later.

Good Luck, KG. Glad to see your jokes don't tank!

Another LandmarkI'm about to go climb into the tank again and this will be my 20th dive out of 30 total. Not only is this reaching 2/3 marker of my journey, it is the last dive before I undergo surgery at the Marquette University School of Dentistry. Not to worry, it is a well seasoned oral surgeon who will be the actual cutter, but I've already been poked, prodded and probed by several dental students in white lab coats.

Mine seems to be an interesting case for the students.

The good news is that they're going to put me out for the duration. The bad news is that I'll be living on soup and fruit smoothies for awhile.

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth,
See? My two front teeth!

--Donald Yetter Gardner

Although, the rest of them would be pretty nice to have, too. :D

So, if I may ask...what is so interesting about the case/condition for the students?

...and wave at MSOE for me on your way to Marquette - take care tomorrow - sweet dreams!

Is the staff at Marquette at least giving you the "pullings" so you have something to leave under your pillow for the tooth fairy?

I'm more worried about everything coming out - they needn't be perfect, just out.

With all the sitting around (get up before the roosters, drive 2 hours to Fitchburg, sit in the tank for two hours, eat lunch, nap, sit in the tank for two more hours, drive home 2 more hours, then hit the hay) I wouldn't say new and improved as much as the larger, economy size.Check out my blog for the latest update.

Today, it caught up to me. I feel like I've been run over by a truck. Of kissed by the Hiawatha.

  • #166
I'm sorry you're not feeling well today. That could be an understatement, being run over by a truck wouldn't feel good. Was it a Mac? Could it have been a little S-10? That might make a difference.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'd rather be run over by a Mac than a Mack.Especially if ChefAnn is driving. ;)

<giggle>
My Mac weighs a LOT less than a Mack. Heck, it weighs a lot less than my old Toshiba.

What's the good news today, TW? Are things starting to heal?

So I missed something somewhere.....what's TW? I'm pretty sure that KG hasn't started selling tupperware so is this a new term of endearment? If so, do tell.....

It's from the "Well Wishes" thread. KG referred to himself as "Toothless Wonder." :D

At the Lands' End Inlet store yesterday, we found a tote bag with the intials KG on it. Too bad it was too small and powder blue.I am talking...I sound a little like Gabby Hayes and I often have to repeat myself but people are understanding me.I say, I often have to repeat myself.

  • #173
OMG! You totally need a tote bag with "KG" on it! Powder blue wouldn't be bad, but it would have to be large enough that it didn't look like a purse. :)

How about using sign language?
This is the sign for beer...
And nerd...
And apple...
And lunch...
And milk...
And more...

Oops- I guess you can't see me. I do know those signs (of course, that's my entire repertoire of ASL).

I only know one.

I learned it from a cab driver in Manhattan.

  • #176
Hey, I drive the speed limit unless I'm in rush-hour traffice, then I go with the flow :). Driving the speed limit has helped me to learn much sign language. I believe I'm familiar with the one KG refers to as well as many others with basically the same meaning.I've also learned lots of nifty new words.

Lots of friendly people in Indiana, are there? They wave, but they're not so friendly as to use all the fingers on their hands when they wave at you?

  • #178
Yeah, they do that one-finger wave. I've decided hoosiers like to really conserve energy. Less effort to raise only one finger. Right?

Just a quick update...I'm on my way into the tank for my 26th dive. I have four more - two on Monday and two on Tuesday, then I'm done. I've got an appointment with the surgeon on Friday to see how things have healed up and I expect to get the go-ahead to go back to work. It's been three days since my surgery and I stopped taking the narc pain killers on Wednesday. I am convinced that the HBOT is speeding my healing and that I am several hours ahead of the normal healing curve. My face still feels like I've been kissed by The Hiawatha but otherwise I'm getting along fine.

  • #183
That's great! I'm so glad that the therapy is making a big difference to your healing time. It would really suck if it were all for naught.

Naughty is a whole 'nother thing. :)

I wonder what naughty might be like at 2 ATA?

  • #185

I'm a little slow today but just thought...could you be arrested for pressuring someone to be naught - ee with you???

*snort* Why do I suddenly have mental images of Steve Austin and a bionic, um... weiner?

  • #188
Ann (both of you), you crack me up.

KG, wow, only four more dives. Glad to hear it's helping. (Oh, you crack me up too:) )

(It's after midnight here...but I love signing on ar the end of the day and reading KG's quips...they make a rough day better)

I saw a movie about that very topic - The Senator's Daughter and you won't find it at Blockbuster.

Was it in the "special" room at an independent video store? You know, the room you DON'T want to take a black light into...

No, I actually saw it in a THEATRE with, well, with who doesn't really matter anymore. But since it was in the days of the Bionic Man and the $6 million woman (sorry, but there isn't a woman in the world worth a $6 meg headache) you can well imagine that there weren't any VCR's. And there were pickets in front of the theatre, carrying signs that said "PORNOGRAPHY CAUSES VIOLENCE" which probably referred to the sign carriers bopping customers over the head with their signs.

The Reading List for Passing Time In The TankI think I already told you these:

The Thirteenth Tale Diane Setterfield

Rocket Boys: A Memoir Homer Hickam, Jr.

Bones to Ashes Kathy Reiches

Odd Thomas Dean Koonz (Tip o' the hat to ChefAnn)

Just finished...

Forever Odd Dean Koonz

I would highly recommend any one of those books - I was especially moved by Rocket Boys and somehow, I feel guilty having finished the book, like I've left those boys in West Virginia. The Odd Thomas books are really page turners and I look forward to reading Brother Odd.

Well, like I said before Ann hijacked the thread (can you imagine that???) I've got four dives left on Monday and Tuesday. I haven't pushed my luck, but I'm thinking about making lunch on Tuesday.

That would be very sweet of you. What's on the menu?

I suggest the Greek Lemon Chicken Soup from It's Good For You. :) Really - that's a delicious and easy soup. And it's good served with whole-wheat pita bread on the side.

I love that! Made it yesterday and had Beer Bread with it.

If you have a crock pot you could take it in that so it would stay hot between dives.
