I think they have snow in Kentucky.....

  • #2,702
I don't think that they have the bitter cold that we get sometimes....but I know that they have 4 season changes (well, I think they do!)

  • #2,703
BTW - the Western side of Wisconsin is gorgeous. (along the mississippi).
It's pretty flat in my region of the state. boring.

  • #2,704
Yes, Kentucky sounds nice and beautiful places to ride.

  • #2,705
baby steps, it will happen

  • #2,706
We drive thru Kentucky when we make our annual trek to Florida. I'm always looking for a mountain to buy when we're driving through.

  • #2,707
Kim, if we keep this up, you'll be at 1000 before tomorrow...wait...it IS tomorrow! I didn't pay attention to the time!! LOL!!!

  • #2,708
I like the snow - within reason. Where I lived in Wyoming, we have plenty of it and wind. I recall seeing one of our dogs being blown off the porch the wind was so strong. (he was a small dog but still)

  • #2,709
Actually, it's TODAY.....well, you know what I mean. It's almost time for bed...brain is starting to go mushy.

  • #2,710
You are going to hit 1,500 before I hit 1,000 but it is looking like I will get very close to it before the end of the weekend.

ROFLMAO! That's a visual!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poor dog!!!

  • #2,712
I was just thinking about the wind in Wyoming and I think the day the dog blew off the porch a train was blown off the railroad tracks.

  • #2,713
Wow - I'm getting closer to 1500....wasn't paying attention to that too closely either!! By the end of Sunday, I should easily be over 1500....yay!

  • #2,714
yes, he was trotting along and then it was like he was walking on air but zip he was gone... I ran to the edge and looked down and he was standing there looking up at me like "What the hec just happened!"

  • #2,715

Wow - where in Wyoming did you live??? That's pretty nasty!!

  • #2,717
At that time we lived between Cheyenne and Laramie (our address was Cheyenne)

  • #2,718
When you drive between Laramie and Cheyenne as you come over the summit, you will see signs that say to be careful of high winds. Truckers have to pull over when it gets real bad so they don't tip.

  • #2,719
Holy smokes.....that's insane!!

We went throgh Wyoming once...the year we went to Yellowstone...don't remember when that was..neat when you get into the mountains.

  • #2,720
Lot's of memories from that place. We lived on a ranch and I was spoiled. The pasture was our backyard and I could ride any time I wanted. It was nice to get on and be able to ride for miles and miles with no fences. You can't hardly find that anymore.

  • #2,721
I didn't mean mountains...I meant Yellowstone. duh.

You certainly have that right!!! I don't think there's anywhere you can go do that! That must have been a great experience. You're lucky to have had that.

Yes, the north part of the state is the prettiest. Starting in the middle of the state going west is the most beautiful. You don't have the wind as bad up there.

  • #2,724
I'll be able to ride my horses whenever I want when I get my horse farm in Kentucky. (nice dream!~)

  • #2,725
There are a lot of mountains in Yellowstone Park - at least in the part in Wyoming. The Tetons are the most beautiful. They were in the background for my brothers wedding. He lives near Jackson Hole.

We stayed overnight in Cody, WY before we went to Yellowstone. Had an interesting trip into the park. SE entrance was closed due to fire, so we had to go to the NE entrance.

but wait.....there's more to the story....

  • #2,729
dh was driving, I was navigating. So, I missed the road we were supposed to take, and we ended up on the "Bear Tooth Pass" I was terrified. we were REALLY high on the mountain...all because I was not paying attention coming out of Cody.

  • #2,730
I remember the fires that closed the park entrance

  • #2,731
Someday, when I have Alzheimers and I don't know who I am, I'll remember the Bear Tooth Pass. LOL!!!

  • #2,732
Uh-oh some of those road on mountain passes can be "fun" to drive on

  • #2,733
LOL, I remember when we went to ride in a trial ride in Colorado near Durango Colorado. To drive over Wolf Creek pass is pretty scarey

  • #2,734
It was about 5 years ago we were there. I can't remember what I did 3 days ago, but I remember that. Always will. Man, we were 10 feet from Heaven.

  • #2,735
I told the kids to look up and they might be able to see God. (they looked, but didn't see Him.)

  • #2,736
Memories of the C.J. McCalls song (I have just gone blank on the name) but it was a song about truckers on their CB radios. He talked about the Switch back City - you have to be careful to not burn out your brakes from trying to keep the truck going slow.

We were in our truck that was pulling a 4-horse trailer with a camper.

  • #2,737
Oh, those will be great memories.

Look at me yapping about things that happened when I was in high school.

  • #2,738
It's funny...when we started to go up the pass, we were like, "wow - look at the snow up there"! (It was August). Well, when we got to the top of the pass, we were looking down saying "wow - look at the snow DOWN there!"

eek!! it was scary!

  • #2,739
I am with you though - ask me about something last week and I may say "I don't know, I have slept since then." Let me look in my day timer. LOL

  • #2,746

  • #2,747

  • #2,748
