As many of you may have read on another thread, I'm heading to my first National Conference July 17-19. (YEAH!) After conference, I'll be popping in to see family and friends. I was hoping to schedule a couple of in-home cooking shows during my stay but:
1. I only get to stay in town for two days.
2. Everyone says they're interested in attending but unable to host.
So, after being bummed out for about four and a half minutes I thought "How can I salvage this situation?" and came up with this seemingly awesome idea: (Note: Sometimes my seemingly awesome ideas fall flat on their faces) I would host a show (or shows) in my hotel room. That way, I wouldn't be putting out any of my family or friends and we could still get together for some food and some fun.
PLUS I would give away the host benefits (like a mystery show) AND since I'm willing to hold several different theme shows on one single day it could be like a mega show.
So, I've come up with a flyer (see the Fajitas & Margaritas Flyer post) to promote. I'm planning to mail catalogs, flyers, and fun little fluff like confetti to each primary contact point (ie: one package to my mom for her and the neighbors, one package to my brother for our joint friends and acquaintances, and one package to my old co-workers). I will also email out of state relatives with a note that although they can't attend, they can order online and still be eligible for the fun host benefits. Hopefully, I can use the Priority Mail flat rate envelopes at $4.80 a pop.
I'm really excited about this but need a reality check from those of you "seasoned cheffers".
Please read the flyer and let me know what you think.
