Why Is My Cooking Show Host Stalling?

a little. You should try to offer the catalog show host a sampling of products to loan out to their friends one evening at a time to make dinner with. It seems to help with not having the "Nobody wants to order anything" syndrome that I often get from catalog show hosts.

Sorry fellow cheffers but I have to vent here. This host booked a cooking show for Nov 4th way back in September. Well she called a couple days before and told me that everyone in her family has the flu and she didn't want to expose me to it, thank you I guess. However she still wanted to do a catalog show. Well I have called her back every week to see if she wants to close the show. Well she has a few more orders to get and blah blah blah. Well I called her tonight and she gave me the exact same line. "Well I needed to make a few more copies of the order sheet and I still have a few more orders to get." All I can say is this had better be a really good show if she still needs to get orders.
I can't really be rude to her because she is a sister of a really good family friend. I don't know what else I can do for this gal but hope that her family gets well so they can have a life other than sickness.
I think I have it out of my system. My DH is not home at the moment that I can talk or yell at him so instead you all have to hear it. I am suprised my keys in the keyboarrd are still together in one piece because I am typing awfully hard. Thanks for listening to me b----.

I had a hosyess like that once she would tell me to call her back and then she even hung up on me so when her husband answered the phone and said she was busy I had him ask her if she did not want to do the show and she said that she did not want to do it so the orders she said she collected I dont think she really did. O would try a few times then bless and release.
I had another hosttess who was supposed to do a catty show in Nov of last yr and she called me out of the blue in Jan with some orders. Good luck with this hostess

I feel your frustration. All you can do is bless and release. I'm learning that this type of business really grows you as a person. Sad to say there are lots of not so good people out there. Good luck in the future.

Call her one more time and ask her for a specific date that she can finalize the show. Remind her that those who ordered will be wanting their products.

If that doesn't get results then tell her that she should call you when she is ready and you will be happy to send her order in. Then bless and release. If she calls you with the order it's a bonus, if not, well you didn't waste anymore of your time!

When you make your next call, ask her for the orders she has now. Tell her you'd like to get them into the computer so that when she gets the rest you can quickly enter them. If she does have orders, this will give you a chance to tell her her current show benefits. If she doesn't have any orders, you might finally get her to tell you that she really will not be putting in a catalog show.

Thanks fellow cheffers. I talked to the hosts sister tonight and she is acutally going to her house to get her order and get some other orders too from other people. I am going to my friends house on Friday and her sister is going to have all of the orders for me to pick up there. Thank the Lord. I just have to make sure I turn it in by the 5th of Dec to make it a Nov show, right?

technically you have till the end of Dec. to submit it as a Nov show BUT if you want it to count towards the sale a thone then it needs to be submitted by Dec 5th

I've tried offering catalog show hosts a sampling of products to loan out to their friends one evening at a time to make dinner with. It seems to help with not having the "Nobody wants to order anything" syndrome that I often get from catalog show hosts when I don't offer this. It's alot of back and forth with dropping them off, picking them up, but I realize that I'm not spending an entre evening doing a show and don't need to hire a sitter for the drop off/pick up routine. It's helped alot.

I too feel your pain, maybe when you call her again you could ask her for the orders she does have. Explain to her that you would like to start putting her show together and it will help both of you in the end. I've had to do this with a host or two. Good luck and who knows this could be your big show :D

2. How do I handle a host who constantly changes their mind?

Communication is key in this situation. Make sure to document any changes made and have the host confirm them in writing. This way, you have a record to refer back to in case of any confusion. While last-minute cancellations can be frustrating, it's important to remain understanding and professional. Reach out to the host to see if there is a specific reason for the cancellation and try to find a solution that works for both parties. You can also offer to reschedule the party for a later date. Remember to always prioritize the host's satisfaction and keep the lines of communication open.
