What makes the new Indy movie a must-see this weekend?

I won't give any spoilers here, but if you're looking for something fun this weekend, go see it!! It's almost non-stop action from start to finish, and a good end to the franchise.

There's some schtick with CG prairie dogs in the first 30 minutes that they could have skipped, but lots and lots of neat effects and stunts. Cate Blanchett is amazing (and looks so good with a brunette bob), and Shia LeBoef was also very well cast and holds his own against the veterans. I don't recommend taking little ones, because there are some tense moments involving a dry sand pit (reminded me of The Princess Bride, actually) and a giant swarm of flesh-eating ants.

If you go, keep your eyes open for little clues about where things are at the beginning (the sign on the military base), as well as for a visual reference to the first Indy movie.

We just finished showing the kids the first three Indiana Jones movies on DVD. We're planning a family outing to see #4 this weekend. I can't wait!Naturally, DS insists we buy all the product tie-ins, cereal, snacks, cookies, etc. when we're at the grocery store.

Giggle. There's a reference to that. And several other lines that are used in the other 3 movies.At one point, he finds out who a group of people are, and I leaned to DH, saying, "I hate xxxx." Just like his Nazis line in nos. 1 and 3. (BTW, this one takes place in 1957, so the villains aren't the Nazis.)

Since we have the kids to find a sitter for, we don't get to the movies nearly as often as we once did...but we saw Iron Man the weekend it came out and really liked it. My folks saw Indiana Jones yesterday and said it was entertaining, so we'll have to find someone to "dump" the kids on for a couple of hours sometime soon!!! I really want to see Prince Caspian, too. Might just have to spend the entire day at the theater sometime.

we watched the 1st IJ Friday mnight, and since DS is home sick today, we are watching 2 and 3....maybe he & I can go see it this weekend!

We got free tickets to see it Saturday morning. I thought it was good. DH didn't like it so much, thought it was too long. Pretty good for a free movie though. I have never seen the first two movies, only bites and peices when it was on Saturday afternoon movies on TV. We just watched the third one, DH bought it at a used bookstore after he heard I hadn't seen any of them!

I didn't think it was too long (it was barely 2 hours - and that's a minimum as far as I'm concerned for getting my money's worth), but there needed to be some relief to the non-stop pacing.

I didn't think it was too long either. DH just gets too uncomfortable in theatres which is why we usually rent and watch at home.

We used to do that, because we used to have a 65" widescreen TV and great surround sound. But we sold the TV with our previous house, because it would have been a pain in the tush to get it out of the basement, and there isn't a good room for a home theater in the new house. So when there's something that promises to have good music or sound effects, we try to see it at the theater. Of course, we're too cheap to go often, especially now that I'm not working outside the home.

um... there is a new X-Files movie coming out. But you're right - it was a little too far-fetched for an Indy movie. But the way it was left open for a possible sequel featuring Mutt makes me happy. (I think Shia LeBeouf is a cutie!)

I thought the same thing about the "theme" of the movie. After watching the third movie and what they did with "computer imagining" at the time compared to today complete CGI of some movies, I didn't like how far fetched this one was. Otherwise, it was a very good movie.

He's 66. He didn't get his real break in Hollywood until he was 34, when he was cast as Han Solo in Star Wars. And that was a fluke. He was working as a carpenter to support himself, and was doing work for George Lucas (or the casting director, I forget who). There was nobody there for the auditioning actors to read lines with. Lucas had worked with Ford on American Graffiti, and asked him to read lines. They liked his readings, and cast him. His career took off from there.

He was AWESOME in the Transformers movie. DH and I just rented that the other night and I LOVED IT!!! I'm a huge car junkie, I LOVE the military, love action, explosions, guns, weapons, cars that turn into crime fighting robots! Man I was on the edge of my chaise lounge- and had a grin on my face the entire movie! I LOVED that Camero! I saw pictures of it over a year ago- and I might have to change my thoughts on Chevy if Pontiac can't come out with the Firebird again... That movie rocked! And Shia LeBeouf was in Transformers, so maybe we'll go see Indiana- DH is not an Indy fan. (if I'd have known that 15 years ago, I'm sure I'd be married to someone else!) How can you NOT love Harrison Ford in ANY capacity?

What!?!?!?! Wow I would never have gotten that from him, but to each his own. I don't like dill or cilantro or capers, so what do I know! LOL

I hope there will be a Transformers II- in fact I'm so excited about that, I might just go and watch the movie again. So which scenes were shot in Detroit? I think I might watch it on the smaller upstairs TV, becasue DH was drooling just a little too much over little miss grease monkey blue eyes- but secretly I was enjoying that cute military dude with the new baby back home!

I know they shot on Fort Street and I think Griswold. (might have been Congress) The buildings in the Detroit shots are taller than some of the others in the sequence - nothing lower than probably 3 stories.There's a funny video on YouTube with all the "no no no no" sequences cut together, so it's just 3 minutes of Shia running around saying no.
