Show New Prods. at Current Shows?

In summary, it appears that it is a good idea to show the new products at your current shows. However, be prepared for people to be upset if they can't buy what you are showing.

I was just wondering what y'all thought about showing some of the new products at your current shows? I typically wait until right before the new season (like 1 week before) to show anything. But do you think it would be a good or bad idea to show now? I've had people in the past at shows where I've shown the new products get a little upset when they can't buy what I'm showing. :( So, that's why I'm concerned about showing the new stuff now. That's why I'm asking your opinion!!!

I tease them a bit with a few but right now I am focusing on the February special because I want to fill that month first! If you are satisfied with your February calendar then go ahead and promote for March!

Don't show or talk about anything unless your February calendar is how you want it to be. I want more shows for Feb so I am not saying or showing anything at my shows this weekend.

I usually just bring the mini catalogs at the end of February. I find it's best to give it to them after they order though. Otherwise, they just want everything that's new.

I think I am going to bring the bar board/ knife combo just to give a little tease. Then they can see the new spring color and get excited.

Well, I ended up taking a few things to my show this am and I told them that I didn't know if I should show them or not....but everyone was glad I did and they were impressed too!!

A fellow Consultant had a show on Thursday. She ONLY took the pinch bowls, to "tease" them. She also took mini-catalogs, but purposely left them in her car. She told them that, although she has some mini catalogs, she is limited on how many she has right now; however, whoever booked a show that night would get one. Only 4 guests, but 2 booked.

Guess she might have a good idea, huh?

I mention that new products are coming out in March, but that's it. If someone books a show in March or April, I give them a host packet with the new catalogs, and they get to see them then. Otherwise, I just don't make a big deal about it. I try to promote the discontinuing items (get 'em now before they're gone) before trying to sell things we can't even sell yet. It's more of a booking tool to me than anything, so I'll probably talk about them more in my Feb. shows, but still won't bring anything.

I am going to show mine beginning at my next one on Feb 7th. I am fully booked for Feb and want to get started on March. I may not take the actual products but just take a mini-catalog to pass around. I did that at my show last night - I got 3 bookings! One for Feb, one for March and one has not decided yet.
