Why the heck not? That's what I'd do! (Not that you should necessarily do anything that I would do. I'm just sayin' is all...)jenniferknapp said:I don't think that any of the guests will really overlap at the few weddings, could I wear the same dress to all 3?
What ever you wear, make sure you look REALLY REALLY GOOD in it!jenniferp417 said:For those of you still reading this thread... I'm going to be attending my husband's ex-wife's wedding next month.
Would black still be appropriate? I need to buy a dress anyway, and I think I'd get more use out of a black one, but I don't want to do something inappropriate in this case either.
I doubt that Miss Manners ever had a protocol for "what to wear when you're wife #2 attending wife #1's third wedding."

Well thank you!! Of course I always love shopping.....but I hate it when I am going with a mission, because when that happens, I never find something I like (Basically, I feel like I am bathing suit shopping all of the time!) I like shopping when I'm not looking for anything specific.... so, my plan will be to be on the lookout for a dress, of course at a reasonable price, but know that this one will be okay if I don't find anything else!speedychef said:You were just looking for someone to tell you to go shopping, I know it...that dress is gorgeous! You look fantastic in it! I say wear that one, but if you want a new one, go for it! Also, definitely wear the same one...coming from cheap ol' me...

GeorgiaPeach said:In the Little House on the Praire books , there was a saying "Marry in black, wish yourself back". I guess that means that if you wear a black dress to get married in you will later wish you weren't married.
Thought I'd throw in that bizarre little quote. As a child I LOVED these books and read the ENTIRE series 8 times!! Funny how I can remember that saying 30 years after reading it but can't remember what I ate for dinner last night!
Oh, and my two cents.....definitely wear that black dress!! It looks so cute on you. I like the slimming factor of a little black dress too but would avoid it if the wedding is outside....TOO hot!
reba515 said:okay so shop for jewelry to go with that dress! I think that dress is great for a wedding (any time of day)
I would go for simple jewelry for daytime and for night time something with a little more sparkle long or short will look nice with that style dress
think SILPADA!
Hmmmm! decisions decisions! I just need a personal hair stylist and wardrobe consultant, ummmm.... yeah! Oh, and to win the lottery!!reba515 said:so practice what you preach girl ! have a show earn FREE jewlery!
or spend what you would have on a new dress on jewels! (such logic )

chefann said:One way you could accessorize is wearing a LOT of pearl necklaces. That's a neat way to jazz up a plain black dress. You do need to do a LOT of them so that it's obvious that it's intentional, and you're not just someone with no judgement. And then you wear a simple pair of pearl stud earrings.
jenniferp417 said:My 12-year-old cousin, that's who! One summer I wore the same dress to two different family events, and the cheeky little snot (she was 9 then I think) asked me if I had any other dresses.
KIDS!

Rae, now that you say that....maybe I shouldn't wear it to one of the three weddings! HAHA....raebates said:I'm also assuming that you have not expressed dismay over the union. If you are vocal about your displeasure and show up wearing black, you're making a statement.
cat said:It's funny, some of these Asian weddings I go to, half the guests are wearing black!!
Yes, it is generally acceptable to wear black to a summer wedding. However, it is important to consider the dress code and the overall vibe of the wedding. If the invitation specifies a dress code, such as "black tie" or "cocktail attire," it is best to follow those guidelines. Additionally, if the wedding is outdoors or has a more casual feel, it may be more appropriate to opt for a lighter color.
It depends on the fabric and style of the dress. If you choose a lightweight, breathable fabric such as cotton or linen, and a dress with a flowy or loose silhouette, you should be comfortable. Avoid heavy fabrics like velvet or wool, and opt for sleeveless or short sleeve styles to stay cool in the summer heat.
Wearing all black to a wedding is generally considered appropriate, as long as it is done in a tasteful and respectful manner. It is important to avoid wearing anything too revealing or overly formal, as well as avoiding any accessories or details that may be seen as too somber or funeral-like.
This depends on the overall dress code and style of the wedding. If the majority of guests are dressed in bright colors and patterns, wearing all black may make you stand out. However, if the wedding has a more formal or elegant dress code, wearing black may blend in with the rest of the guests. It is always a good idea to consider the venue and the couple's style when deciding what to wear.
Absolutely! Adding pops of color through accessories, such as a statement necklace or colorful heels, can add interest and personality to a black dress. Just be sure to choose colors that complement the dress and the overall vibe of the wedding. For a summer wedding, consider fun and vibrant colors like coral, yellow, or turquoise.
