Service Project-Craft Ideas Needed for Cub Scouts

In summary, the conversation discusses various aspects of crafting for Cub Scouts during a service project. It is suggested that simple, age-appropriate crafts that can be completed within a designated time frame are best. For promoting environmental awareness, ideas such as making bird feeders out of recycled materials and decorating reusable water bottles are mentioned. The incorporation of a service component into the project is also recommended, such as making extra crafts to donate to a local charity. To keep the project budget-friendly, options such as using recycled materials and purchasing supplies in bulk are suggested. Finally, it is emphasized that safety should be prioritized by choosing appropriate crafts and providing adult supervision.

Hi guys...
need some brainstorming ideas. We are planning our Cub Scout Christmas party. We have 93 scouts from 1st-5th grade. At last year's party, we had divided them into three groups. One group played some games, a second group decorated Christmas cookies (that they then got to eat), and a third group worked on a Service Project craft. Last year's project was homemade Christmas cards for kids in the hospital. We'll keep the same general format, but we were wondering if there is another project the kids can do that is different. But I have no idea where to start or look. We were going to do a food or toy Drive- but that doesn't give the boys much hands-on action.Ideas??

Send your scouts on a Scavenger Hunt for the following items. When finished, have the Scouts deliver the food to a local church or foodbank for a needy family's Holiday dinner!

Gravy Mix- any kind!
Marshmallows
Cake Mix

Frosting- instant or powdered sugar
Corn, Beans, or canned vegetable
Fruit or fruit cocktail
Olives- canned

Bread, muffin, or corn bread mix
A food item not on this list

Does have to be nondenominational, ie, no Christmas theme? If not what about making Christmas ornaments? If yes, holiday decorations? Cute little snowmen? Peace candlies? Glittery snowflakes?
