Revolutionizing Bridal Showers: A New Way to Use Registry Benefits

In summary, the author suggests that next time a registry issue arises, bride and groom should divide the items into two separate orders- one for the wedding registry and one for the shower registry. The benefits from the shower should only be applied to the wedding registry, and the items purchased at the shower should not count towards the wedding registry. The bride should wait for her shower gifts to be delivered after the wedding.

...about the registry recently! Here's something I think would be perfect... brides being able to choose how the benefits from their showers are applied. They could either use them at the shower, have the shower host use them, OR apply them toward their registry. I really wish PC would come up with something like this.

Of course, only items bought for the bride would count, but surely they can find a way to do that.

I think next time I come up against this situation, I'll separate the bride orders and put them in as one big online order from "Wedding Shower." This would only be a problem if the other orders from the shower totaled less than $150.

I am planning to have my brides do 1 registry. From that list, I will make the board of available items for people to purchase @ the shower....that night I will go home and check off "outside" from the registry so that no one else orders the same product. Then, I will submit all orders from the shower in to one show....for the bride & their personal orders......and the registry will be it's own "show" through HO....Has anyone ever had the problem that all of the items were ordered at a shower, with nothing left for the actual registry? My bride that wants both hasn't made up her list yet, so I don't know how large it will be, but I am hoping there will be enough!

But isn't that taking away from the registry rewards the bride would get? I'd submit the bride orders into her registry online, so that she'd get the credit toward her rewards.

But she's still getting the host rewards from the shower, so I don't see it as a big deal.

That's what my thoughts are... she will get the rewards either way. I mean obviously she would get more at once if you were to combine the 2....but so that she gets lots of things from the shower then from the wedding, I would do it in 2 separate orders...

I've pondered this situation for a long time. Just realize that she has to wait
for her "rewards" with the online order submission, until the time she thinks she no longer will be receiving gifts, and decides to do the one time redemption of her rewards. The items she will be able to purchase with the FREE products value, based on the product totals of the gifts, must be redeemed within ninety days of the wedding date entered in the registry.

At least now, if you submitted the party orders for her, she could take advantage of the Monthly host special, and half price items (perhaps with cash that someone might wish to contribute for that purpose), and then
still benefit from the rewards of the registry from Wedding gift purchases, and could reap the benefits twice (the later time being in another month or perhaps another Catalog period).

That is what I was thinking...I would hate to make the bride wait for her shower gifts until after the wedding!!

Not only that, the online rewards are more at the catalog host level, whereas the shower rewards would be cooking show so an extra $15! That might make up a little difference, that plus the host/guest specials.
