Please Pray... New Recruit Cut Her Thumb

In summary, the new recruit cut her thumb off with a utility knife and her dad was there to help clean it up and finish the tacos. The thumb may not be reattached and she is scared to use the knife again. She is grateful for prayers.

I just got a call from a wonderful new recruit that I have .
She sounded so strained and I asked right away what was wrong.
She cut one stroke through a head of lettuce and cut her the end
of her thumb off... she says off... I think it's attached but her
DH says it's a cut about 1/2 inch long... she'll call me later
when they are done in the ER but PLEASE pray for her... she
is such a sweetie and I just want her thumb to be okay...
TIA

Sure thing Diane! Keep us posted when you hear something from her.

OUCH!!!
I will pray for her thumb! I hope it isn't cut all the way through- keep us posted.

Man, what a way to start! I'll be praying.

Shew... she's home from the ER. She sliced off the left side of her thumb and it could not be reattached. They cut it off the rest of the way and they told her it should grow back. She said if it doesn't her thumb will look very deformed. The funniest part is that her dad was there and he stayed with thier girls. She had just begun chopping everything for tacos so he cleaned her knife all up and finished everything. He told her when she got back that he felt like it was important for him to take that knife to his house for her protection... HE LOVED IT!!!!! So she had a funny story to tell in the midst of the pain! Thanks for praying... I hope she can get past the fear of using her knife very quickly and heals quickly as well.

Glad she is o.k.

Maybe she will feel more comfortable using the new finger guard for awhile?

Hmmm... that would be a good "hope you feel better soon" gift.

Poor thing - I am glad she'll be ok!
Definitely give her the finger guard as a "get well soon" gift!

Yes, it will be a nice gesture and also get her a laugh she needs! :)

I hope she gets well soon.

Wow... I can't believe that she cut herself that badly! I am sure she would appreciate the finger guard, plus get a laugh out of it! I know that I would be scared to use a knife after that. Funny that her dad loved the knife so well!

Oh, wow - I'm glad she's going to be ok and I hope she overcomes her knife fear. As someone who recently sliced her thumb with a PC knife, I feel for her, literally!! Tell her to just jump right back in the saddle and use the knife, but be more careful next time! (Finger guard is a good idea!)
