Ordinarily, I'm a Live-And-Let-Live Kinda Guy

In summary, the people upstairs were very loud and obnoxious throughout the night. They are probably up to some kind of shenanigans again today.

But this is just nuts. 2:00 in the freakin' morning!

I'm staying in a rather new hotel of a famous brand (that shall remain annonymous because this isn't their fault) and I stay in this brand of motel often. Very often...I've got about a quarter of a bazillion points in their frequent stayer program.

Usually, I'm not even in my room this time of night because I'm working and I'm a day sleeper. When I do get into my room, usually between 6-7 in the morning, I'm kinda used to housekeeping in the rooms around me and vacuuming the hallways. It's the danger of working the way I do. Mu curretn job is done and I'm taking a couple of days of sabbatical to try and get my system back around to first shift hours before I head for home. But upstairs...

This is my second night in this room. Last night, Saturday night, the people upstairs must have been having a marathon of some sort. Even in my youth, I don't think I ever...well, you get the idea.

Today and tonight, it sounds like a re-enactment of the Rose Bowl. Non-stop tromping across the floor, it sounds like they've been moving furniture, yelling, laughing and for the last 10 minutes or so, they've been running a device that sounds like a vacuum cleaner. (Even *I* can't imagine what it could be!)

I woke up the night auditor (to complain) a little while ago and she must have said something to them because they're settling down - but not much. The yelling and laughing has stopped, but they're still tromping around up there...

I wonder what I'm missing out on - I just wish it was on the other end of the building.

I am so sorry the people in the room above you are awful.....are you able to switch rooms? and not the ones next door...otherside of hotel....the bellboy may help you move. Hope youget some sleep!

I'm not moving at 2 in the morning. I didn't get much sleep after they woke me up, either, even though they did quiet down. I was able to log on and get some work done, but not exactly what I want to be doing at 4 in the morning.Since I'm near Newell, West Virginia, I wanted to go to the Homer Laughlin factory and take a tour (not to mention, drop another couple hundred bucks at the outlet store) but I think I'll be sleeping.

I'm a consultant for a sign company and we're doing a huge project for a chain of restaurants. We're replacing all of their menuboards. In the first go round, I did site surveys. In the second go round, I'm working with the crews that do the installations. Of course, all the installations have to be done at night, when the restaurants are closed. That's why I'm up all night.I may have to start carrying alone my noise-cancelling headphones. Of course, that's one more thing to have to carry along...

KG-I hope you get some sleep soon. I use to work nights and lived an apartment complex and when I would try to sleep during the day forget that. I hust dom't understand how people can be so loud and obnoxious so late at night.

The GM just gave me a couple extra hours to nap. My arhtritis is killing me with this wet and rain, so a painkiller and a nap are just what I need. I wonder what the housekeeper is finding upstairs...I hear her in that room right now.It might be...interesting.

Nope, no jealousy at all. I know what I am and what I've got so it could actually be considered THEIR loss that I didn't investigate. ;)There's also a great line you set up about joining and beating but I already got in trouble for a couple of one-liners lately so we'll just leave that one alone.

Hey, the girls from Madonna (all girls' Catholic High School in Milwaukee, long gone now) were always a lot more fun than the girls from our own public high schools. Not to mention a couple other ones from Notre Dame but those are all special stories for another time. And most certainly another place!

"hear-o's" are a good little ear plug that might help you. They are very small so it wouldn't be hard to throw them in your suitcase.

Thanks for the idea, but in reality, I've stayed more than 100 nights in hotels in 2006 and never had anything like this happen before now.Usually I stay in hotels that are constructed of pre-stressed concrete that are reasonably fireproof and virtually soundproof...someone could get murdered in the next room and I wouldn't hear it. This place was built with sticks so the noise carried. Stick construction is kinda rare for this particular chain, too, so it really surprised me.

Maybe the current hotel bought out another one and changed the name out front? That would explaine the different construction.

Yep- that's what happened to me!!

You should meet my younger sister. She went to the same Catholic schools as me, but then continued to an all-women Catholic college in Milwaukee (Alverno College). Hoo-boy!

I apologize if I offended anyone with the dirty smilie.

We should commpare notes. ;)

I know someone that should have gone there instead of UWM but that's part of that story for another time. (UWM is known as the UCLA of the midwest: The University Close to the Lake, Almost.) Why, I bet your sister even wore patent leather shoes!

No need to apolgize to me - you can't offend me no matter how hard you try! :D

Oh, KG, I KNEW I didn't offend you. But I don't want to offend anyone else here.

I was fishing for a good comeback. We'll skip the obvious tuna line in the interest of good taste.(Sorry, Charlie. Star Kist doesn't want tuna with good taste, Star Kist wants tuna that tastes good.)

The hotel gods must smile on you because EVERY time I stay in a hotel I end up either next door to, or underneath, a heard of partying elephants. One particularly bad stay the guests were throwing cherry bombs off their balcony above us!

I hate weekends in a hotel. Between the screaming brats out of control in the hallways and pool areas, and the parents who aren't much better, getting any rest is out of the question.See my latest blog posting (link below) for my outlook on that!
