Migraines During Pregnancy: Prayers for Relief and Support

In summary, Jennifer has gotten over the hump of morning sickness and has developed migraines. She did this when she was pregnant with Luke too. She has had a headache for going on two weeks now. She has tried two different medicines that are not working. The doctor is calling in a RD medicine today. Jennifer is able to work but not really function well at times or at the end of the day. It has been bad enough to make her sick too. With Luke, she could take medicine and it would go away in about 30 minutes but so far that has not worked. Jennifer does not like taking medicine b/c she worries about the baby, but there is no way she can go without trying to get rid of

Please, keep my and the baby in your prayers. And my family too while they go through this with me.

Thanks ahead of time for the prayers! I know that God can take them away on His own if it is His will.

You're already on my list, but I'll make those prayers more specific. Take care.

Jennifer, believe it or not, I had this SAME thing happen to me with my last little baby. I had a migraine, and I mean MIGRAINE, the kind where you throw up, have to live in the dark and you have to have silence at all times. I had this for almost a month and 1/2, constantly. It never went away. I was sent to every kind of specialist you could think of. I saw the top neurologist in the state--they couldn't find a thing. And of course since I was pregnant, I couldn't take many medications. I had MRI's, CAT scans, and every test imaginable. Well, long story short, I was miserable. My cousin, in Kansas, is a chiropractor and also does accupuncture. Well, I wasn't a big believer in this, but he pushed me to at least go see someone here in Oklahoma. I did, because nothing else was working, and he did adjustments on my neck about 3 times a week for about 3 weeks. By the end of it, I was completely fine. It was the most bizarre thing, but it worked. I know it's scary when you're pregnant, especially when they want to do a lot of tests on you and give you medications. So maybe you should look into this to see if it helps. Most insurances will pay for it. I paid like $10 each time I went.

I do go to a chiropractor. I went about two weeks ago and have been thinking of calling to go again this week to see if it will help. The ironic thing is the visits have always helped me in the past but this time it seemed like I got the headache they day after I went - I am sure it was just coincendence. Thanks for the suggestion.

When I went, he told me that my headaches would get worse for the first 3-5 visits, but then they would get better. I think if you do it, you definitely have to commit to going for the whole treatment.

Oh Jennifer, I pray that God will lead you in the right direction to find something to take care of these migranes. It's hard enough to deal with things like that during your FIRST pregnancy, but sooooo much harder when you already have a little one running around that you have to take care of!! I pray that God's solution is already in the works!

Why is it that it seems like every time I decide I need to leave work early or not be here that my coworker telepathically knows before I say a word and leaves herself. I had decided to go home b/c I was feeling worse after my medicine was filled and she came back and lunch and told my boss she had to leave b/c her mom could not get her kids from school.

It is just the two of us here. I have taken the new medicine and may be having to go home and leave the boss here by himself b/c I think it is going to make me sick. UHH!

I promise you that if I am off during the week she is gong to find a reason to be off too. Other people have noticed it too but I do not think my boss has a clue - he does not notice stuff like that.

Thanks for your prayers everyone!

I pray against this medicine making you feel more ill and ask Jesus to help sustain you through the rest of this work day and night!

We will be praying for Jennifer. Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you have an allergy towards something that you are eating or there is something in the air that may be causing your headaches. Take care!

How have your headaches been? Were you able to go back to the chiropracter yet? I sure hope they have gone away!

The medicine ended up making me sick as could be but I took it for two days and thank the Lord this is the 3rd day that I have not had a headache.

I did not go to the chiropractor since they have stopped. If they start back, I will be going promptly.

Please continue to pray b/c I know God can keep them away for me! Thanks for the prayers you have said already b/c I know they were answered!

I haven't been on here this weekend to update y'all b/c I was busy all weekend with a Christmas Tea at church.

I suffer from Migraines... I get them monthly. You will not believe this, but Gatorade actually eliminates the severity of my migraines, and usually gets rid of them. My doctor doesn't understand it, either...but it works! Normally within 30 minutes to 24 hours of drinking about 16 ounces.
