Looking for Kristi Tarducci - Re: Shared Customer

In summary, there was a conversation between two individuals, Carolyn and Kristi, about a guest at Carolyn's show who was also a PartyLite consultant. This consultant was invited to Kristi's show but was unable to attend. At Carolyn's show, the consultant began taking orders for PartyLite products, which was seen as rude and unethical by Carolyn and Kristi. The sales at the show were affected and Carolyn expressed her frustration at the situation. They also discussed the process of returning items through PartyLite and the consultant's order from Pampered Chef.

Hey Kristi,
I had a guest at my show last night who said she was invited to one of your shows this week but it was too far for her to drive. Be thankful she isn't coming to your show. As soon as I was done with my demo, but before people started placing their orders, she whipped out her Partylite catalog, passed at around the room, and collected several hundred dollars worth of orders...nice, huh???

OMG, Carolyn! How obnoxious!! I'd ask for an invite to her next Partylite show and do the same to her!! ;) (well, not really, but what the heck?!!) Someone that desperate for business won't go that far, that's for sure! Sorry that happened to you! :yuck:

Carolyn~

WTH? Did you say anything to her...or hopefully your HOST did? Since she was taking sales away from HER SHOW???

People are soooooo rude! Was she a PL consultant, or having a show?

OMG!  :yuck: :yuck:

The NERVE! I have had customers come with their bag and their logo pin on but NEVER have they been THAT bold! ...hmmmm I wonder if it would do anything to say anything to her company - that is unethical and very bad form.

I hope you still got good orders at the show!

At any shows that I attend (you know...as a guest, not a consultant), even if people ASK ME about PC, I try to steer the conversation away from my business....or ask them if I can contact them later. I think that is one of the rudest things you could ever do at a party!

I agree. I NEVER say anything about PC at other shows. Usually the host will tell the consultant though and it comes up but that's it. The people there can talk to me later if they want to and if they do say something to me that night I just give them my card and ask them to call me the next day. The host has the right to get sales on the show she has scheduled and the consultant has the right to sell her product. We should help others in direct sales!

I'm doing a show for my PartyLite lady tomorrow night. We'll see how it goes....

How rude! How were the sales for the PC part?

The sales were so-so - they're just under $600 right now. This gal is a PL consultant - I was just at this same hostess' house last month for a PL show. I did NOY wear a PC shirt or carry a PC bag. I did NOT mention PC at all. I bought about $30 worth of stuff that I would now like to return. Anyone know how to return things thru PL?
I said nothing, I was stunned. The host said nothing either :(

You should call and ask her how much you earned in rewards for all the orders she got last night at YOUR SHOW!

Did the PL consultant place a Pampered Chef order?

How obnoxious!!!! That would totally upset me.:grumpy:

WHAT? I'm SO sorry!! I feel so bad!! Will you PM me her name please? I wonder who's party? That is really rude and I would say something to her. She's not going to know unless someone says something to her.

I kind of have an idea of who it may be and I could be totally wrong but I have a host of mine who had a show a few weeks back. Well, I know the host sent out a mass email to everyone asking them to attend. Well, she moved from down south so the PL got my information. SO, I also am actively involved with the Making Strides against Breast Cancer and I was trying to get some other DS to donate 200 items for the survivor bags. Well, my PL said no so I contacted that woman who sent me her link. I talked to her and said she was too far away. I'm wondering if it's her!! Please let me know!!

Again, I'm SO SORRY!!!:grumpy:

Carolyn - I tried looking on their site for information on how to return something, but I can't find anything. I'll see if I have an old receipt or catalog and let you know.

I did check the DSA's website to see if she was in violation of any of their code of ethics, and I found this one:

"5. Identification and Privacy
Sellers shall truthfully identify themselves, their company, their products and the purposes of their solicitation to the prospective customer. Contact with the consumer shall be made in a reasonable manner and during reasonable hours to avoid intrusiveness. A demonstration or sales presentation shall discontinue upon the request of the consumer."

Direct Selling Association - Code of Ethics - DSA's Code of Ethics

I think the part that says "Contact with the consumer shall be made in a reasonable manner and during reasonable hours to avoid intrusiveness." is the part that she violated, and something needs to be said about it. It's wrong, and like you said, you never would have imagined doing it yourself.

I actually booked a PC show at a Tupperware party I went to as a guest, but the consultant kept telling everyone I was "The PC Lady", and the other guest approached me quietly afterwards, and I said I'd contact her separately. Anything beyond something like that is blatant solicitation and intrusiveness into someone else's business, and is totally uncalled-for!!

Yup, it's her!! That's so her!! I'm so sorry Carolyn! Just for the record, she's NEVER ordered from me. In fact the customer/host of mine used to be and I believe still is a frequent ordered from her.

How'd she bring my name up? How weird! Did your ears perk up when she said my name?

She menationed that she had been invited to three PC shows this week and I asked if she knew the name of the consultant. She was like "Kristy somthingerother ...um, Tatnicci, Tarnicki?" and i said "Tarducci?" and she was like "Yes!! Do you know her?" and I said "Yes, she is a friend of mine!"

What a ditz! I'm so sad she knew me!! I'm sorry. I wonder how she felt when you said you knew me.:p

Wow! I don't think I know what to say. I can't believe she did that.

Wow! How rude!I have to admit that I usually carry my PC ribbon bag wherever I go. It's my daily purse, so it doesn't really occur to me to change it. That said, I can't imagine hijacking someone else's party. The nerve of some people! In the interest of honesty, I must confess that I was at another DS party this week. The host is a good friend, and I quietly took her aside in the kitchen to let her know that a mutual friend was hosting a catalog party in order to get the cookware for her daughter, a soon-to-be bride. I did it discretely and away from the crowd. She asked me if I had a catalog she could see. I told her I did and would give that to her AFTER the party. As people were placing their orders at the end of the show, one of the other guests brought up PC because some of hers had been stolen. When the host mentioned that I was a consultant, she asked for a catalog. Again, I told her I'd be sure to get her one when she was ready to leave. After everyone else was gone, I gave the host her catalog. When the host told the DS consultant I was with PC, she and I got talking about DS in general. So, yes, I talked about PC at another DS party. However, I didn't troll for sales among the crowd. Again, that's just rude!

Rae,
It sounds like you handled it quite gracefully!! Good Job!

Thanks, Kristi. I do think we walk a fine line sometimes. We need to be comfortable talking about PC in pretty much any situation, but we shouldn't step on other people's toes.I try to behave in ways that I wish to be treated. It wouldn't bother me if a consultant for another DS company discretely discussed business with a few of my host's guests. Openly pursuing orders during my show is another thing altogether.

I have to agree with this. This is how I have handled it. I do go to a lot of DS parties and I also carry my catalog purse all the time so I get asked about it often. I recently went to a PD party and when we got there (late) everyone had books for Home and Garden, TS, and I think another one. I couldn't believe it because they were passing it around the whole time. Thing is the TS consultant was also there.

Okay....along similar lines....

I just got back from doing a show for my Partylite consultant (she was the host). At the show, she started to recruit a guest! It was a visiting guest that she didn't know. That bugged me. At least wait untill the show's over! okay, just had to vent. The only booking (so far) was for a COMBO party. So next month I'll be pairing up with her to do a show.

I had the same thing last year with a MK consultant who was hosting and jumping in on my recruiting game to push HER business. Are we the only DS company out there with class???

This made me chuckle Carolyn!

Unfortunately we all know that there are PC consultants that would do the same thing. I bet there are Cons. From other companies making the same comments on another board like this... LOL... wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall? I would!

I think you all handled your situations well. If I go to another DS show I do not wear logo wear. I do usually have my catalog tote since it is my everyday purse. If someone mentions PC and that I sell it I will also say that we can talk after the demo. I will not steal someone elses thunder but I will also try not to lose a contact.

Wow, so far this has not happened to me! I actually had the opposite (well sort of). I had a TW consultant at one of my shows and I was hounding her for a catalog  (I wound-up doing a catty show for her too....actually, I just wanted to order something but she talked me into it - glad she did too b/c I now know that our host program is the best! :D ) Anyhow she actually helped me with recruiting and booking! She was asking all the right questions, it was great. Afterward I asked her if she was thinking about jumping ship with TW - she said "no, I knew the others wouldn't ask and I like for people to see how well we do in our biz". I thought that was very nice of her. I didn't get any recruits, but I did get a few bookings and some faithful customers.

That's cool Linda!

I do that when I am at one of the shows hosted by a friend who is a LS cons. Especially if people arent asking many q's.

  • #32
I think I would have called her on that one! That is rude, and was not the time nor place to conduct business. She should have spoken with you first!

I did a show for a MK Consultant and she had the nerve to repeatly try and recruit me while I was doing my PC demo. I happen to LOVE MK but because of her behavior during my presentation I refused to use her as my consultant after this. Some people have no manners and are just RUDE!

That's crazy and rude. I can't believe it!!

I am so sorry about that. Well I just recruited a friend and at her first show her Partylite aunt decided to whip out her catalogs and start talking about specials for the month and booking her own shows too. It was awful. I guess she thought since they were related it was ok. Her son even made a comment like "I thought this was a PC show?"
She defensively said "It's over already!"

It was sad. I know some people are so pushy and desperate that it really shows and actually makes me feel sorry for them because eventually their social circle will dwindle down dramatically from all the hounding and harrassment.
