Frank Birgfeld, father of murdered fellow Cheffer, Paige Birgfeld, has again asked the Mesa County Sheriff's Department to turn the case over to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. According to KKCO, the NBC affiliate in Grand Junction, Birgfeld continues to ask for the case to be passed on to another organization.
Birgfeld sent a letter to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office on January 25. In the letter, Birgfeld claims the sheriff's office lacks the skill to solve the case.
"I've asked for it to be moved to an objective agency of which the fog of corruption and cronyism and amateur police work doesn't reside," he said, "and the basic question is why not?"
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says they will not comment on an open investigation.

This is nothing new, Mr. Birgfeld asked for the case to be transferred to the CBI in May of 2009. (Morning Update, May 15, 2009.) At the time, Mr. Birgfeld demanded to know where all the cash was that CBS News had reported found in Paige's home. No cash can be found.
In earlier statements, the sheriff has stated this is an open and ongoing investigation.
