Is This New Company Bringing Families Back to the Table?

I thought this was interesting and wanted to share. I was searching on Craig's List and ran across an ad for this company that would touting themselves as being similar to PC.

Hmmm... I noticed that they are selling Wilton products. Are they associated with Wilton? I also noticed they have actual consultants listed on the site under "Locate a Consultant." I have to say, the website seems quite cheesy. You can even see consultant only items right on the shopping section. $350 for a complete kit.

Based on the look of the site (don't even get me started on sites that center whole paragraphs of text instead of left-justifying them), the fact that there are only 5 consultants listed, and the "check out Wilton to make your list and then come back" suggestion, this appears to be a start-up. Good luck to them, but I can't see there being a big market for a company that sells only items that are readily available elsewhere, with no exclusives.

I found some of the Craigslist ads, and one stated they have 17 consultants in the US. And I agree with Ann, why go to a consultant or a home party when I can walk into Michael's or JoAnn and buy the product there?

They offer a "50% fundraiser"! That tells me all I want to know about how expensive their products are! Little scary when it says 100 consultants and founded in 2009! I was reading over the prices... They have a butterscotch/oatmeal cookie mix that makes 3 dozen cookies for $13.95!! That is ridiculous! They look plastic: Tilt' n Mix 3 Pc. Bowl Set: Unique design allows bowls to stand at an angle for easy stirring. Non-slip feet keep bowls in place while mixing, 1.5, 3 and 5 quart bowls included in set. $35.00 The fundraiser order from looks like a GS cookie order form! CHEESY! Fundraiser prizes look like they came from Oriental Trading Company. If they sell 100 items (which range from $4.95 to $35, they can "earn" a $50 gift card of the child's choice! Oh brother! Needless to say, this is NO competition for PC!

Speaking of new companies, anyone ever hear of Wild Tree! This is new to our area and well, it will give a run for our money. Unlike Tastefully Simple, their prices are less than ours for oils and seasonings.

I will be taking a closer look as the rep here wants to do a party together. She LOVES PC - sucks as I did try to recruit her - but... She uses her PC stuff at her parties all the time! Simple Additions is her favorite and I won't argue with that. In fact, there is one of my cold calls for tomorrow!

AGREED! Wildtree has been around here for several years, and I never hear people raving about it.On the other hand - I had a room full of women last night who were practically giddy to be at a PC party. 3 bookings! Could have been more, except a couple held off to book from the bookings.

I had a Wildtree party a few years ago. There stuff was pretty good, but I LOVE our seasonings and oils MUCH better! I was helping someone out as it was her first show. She didn't stay in the business very long though.

Did you also notice the prices for fundraisers were MORE expensive than listed on site......which were expensive enough.

No listing of warranty anywhere I could find either.

AND in their Consultant Agreement, it specifies that there is no insurance coverage - if anything should happen while you are doing a show - it's up to you to provide the insurance to cover any damages.


Some of the wording on their website leads me to believe that either they are some previous PC consultants, or they studied PC literature extensively before writing their copy...

Well nothing compares to PC for sure, however I looked at this site and find it interesting that they do cake decorating classes in hosts homes! That sounds like something I'd like to maybe do. I always say I'm going to go to Micheals or Acmoore and take them, but never do. I wish it was more elaborate on what is done and if I could earn free Wilton products and not pay for the class that's appealing to me. However, since there is no real mention of whatever the host benefits are there may very well be fees involved. I do think I know of at least a few people that would be willing to participate in the cake decorating show! I'll have to see about that one.

That would be a really great idea! And with our new cake pedastal too, you could make it a show from "start to finish"- from baking the cake in our tools (I'd prebake...but demo, and do like they do on cooking shows where they miraculous go to the oven to put the batter in, and wallah! the cake is done! ) Then proceed with the decorating demo. Take a class or two and go for it! A fabulous spring theme too with easter/birthdays/showers (baby and bridal), or you could adjust to fit any season.

You can always take a cake decorating class at one of these stores. I am actually an instructor at Michaels and right now a 4 week work is $17.50 (with $5 coupon the store has). And you can buy your kit with the 40% coupon. You can take the class at any of the stores...I would only recommend that you check out the stores first. Michael's does give you a free course book for the class. I had another student that came from another store ( I think it was AC Moore, not sure) and they charge $12 or $15 for the course book. I did give her the free one for the class and told her to return the one that she had already purchased at AC...just double check...every area might be doing this differently.:love:

I am thinking a former PC consultant started this...

mission statement.....'bringing families back to the table'
and a very old one " the sky's the limit"
