Is Organizing a Fundraiser for a Local Food Bank a Good Idea?

I was thinking of offering the local food bank to do a fundraiser for them, then I was thinking what I'd do is ask the local grocery stores if I could set up a table and try to get sales/bookings from them? I know its not a great time of year for this b/c its COLD but I can bundle up and I'm trying to get as much sales as I can in Nov!

Anyone ever do this? Think its a good idea?
