Is Door-to-Door Fundraising Effective for Boosting Sales?

In summary, Sarah is concerned about the legality of soliciting and John thinks it's a great idea. They both suggest ways to get started.

I was thinking about going around my neighborhood to ask if people wanted to support the HWC fundraiser I am holding by purchasing the HWC items. Just like the kids do when they sell candy for school or sports. Do you think this is a bad idea/waste of time? I think it might lead to a few extra sales and possible interest in other nowHWC items. How would you feel if someone came to your door for something like this? Thanks for the feedback :)

I'd feel about the same way I do the Girl Scouts or any other group coming to my door. If it's something in which I'm interested, and I have the money, I'll place an order. If not, I'll say no thanks, and close the door. I don't think it would be a waste of time, and it would give you a chance to meet some people in your neighborhood. Our HOA does not allow soliciting, and there's a sign at the entrance to the neighborhood. Make sure you aren't breaking any rules by doing this, and it should be fine (if there isn't a neighborhood policy against it, do pay attention to any 'no soliciting' signs on people's doors).

This sounds like a great idea. If I have some time I may try it, also. Good Luck!

This is a great idea! And Sarah is right, heed all the signs and do NOT leave anything in mail boxes, that is a federal offense!
Now, one more thing if I may, go to CC and find the link to getting Credit Card Donations. You can do this FREE now thanks to RMDave and tys1031, and set up an official ACS event. Find the tab to change the URL so it is easily found. I changed mine to www.acsevents.org/goto/johnw. The bold part is the part I could change. This way you can print up something and leave it in your neighbors door somehow. If they are not home, you still have a way to get donations from them. Or print up something about contacting you if they would like to help. And good luck!

Hi there! I think it's a great idea to reach out to your neighborhood to support the HWC fundraiser. As a pampered chef consultant, I have found that word-of-mouth and personal connections are some of the best ways to make sales and spread awareness about our products. Plus, it's always nice to support a good cause while also getting some delicious and high-quality products in return. I personally wouldn't mind if someone came to my door for something like this, as long as it's done respectfully and not too pushy. Good luck with your fundraiser!
