The general rule of thumb for meat is to plan for about 1/2 pound per person. So for 6-7 guests, you would need approximately 3-3.5 pounds of meat.
For a side dish, plan for about 1/2 cup of vegetables per person. This means you would need approximately 3-3.5 cups of vegetables for 6-7 guests.
If pasta or rice is the main dish, plan for about 4-6 ounces of dry pasta or 1/2 cup of dry rice per person. For 6-7 guests, you would need approximately 24-42 ounces of pasta or 3-3.5 cups of rice.
A good rule of thumb for appetizers is to plan for about 2-3 pieces per person. For 6-7 guests, you would need approximately 12-21 appetizers.
For dessert, plan for about 1 slice or serving per person. For 6-7 guests, you would need approximately 6-7 slices or servings of dessert.
