Dealing with Bronchitis & Pleurisy: My Struggle with Asthma & Misdiagnosis

In summary, Teresa and Brian share that they have both been fighting bronchitis and pleurisy since December 30, and have been feeling progressively worse since last Thursday night. Teresa also shares that she has asthma, which makes her symptoms even more difficult to bear. They both hope that their current antibiotics will work and that this will be the last time they have to deal with this illness.

I have had bronchitis and pleurisy since Dec. 30, I felt good for 5 days the first week of Feb. went back yesterday because I started to feel crappy again last Thursday night....

She said my lungs sounded like those of a smoker who smokes 5 packs a day. I have never smoked. I'm miserable and can't imagine being a smoker

I don't have energy to make phone calls & my office and house is a wreck

I also have asthma so its like a double whammy trying to breathe. Anyone else fighting this? I'm sick of sleeping all day when I'm not coughing

Teresa - your story is the same as mine! I have had this since the middle of January - actually was coughing up blood, because of the infection. I have been miserable, and am so exhausted! I had a good day on Saturday, but by Sunday night I was feeling so sick again, and running a fever. I cough and cough and cough....and am so tired! This morning I got up at 6:45, went back to bed at 7:30 (when DH left for work) and slept until 9:30, when DS got up. Then, this afternoon, I let him watch videos all afternoon while I napped on the couch. Between weather cancellations, and my sickness, I have only held one show since the first of Feb. I have one this Sat that is a Bridal Shower, and I am just hoping and praying that I'll be up to doing it!

Just wanted you to know you are not alone in your misery!:yuck: :(

I was in your shoes in Sept for about a month and 1/2. Even had laryngitis for 7 days but took a new approach at show - no way was I cancelling just because I couldn't talk!!! Anyway, I thought I recovered but then got it again in Nov for another month. Took multiple rounds of anitbiotics to finally kick-it! Don't hesitate to visit you Dr and insist on Rx. I took my Dr's advice the 2nd time around & didn't take the Rx for a week only to get worse and needed it anyway.

I've been seeing her once every couple of weeks since it started and have had the shots, antibiotics, new antibiotics etc.
I'm just tired of feeling this way I can't even get the mail because I get to winded.
I'm also tired of canceling lunch dates with friends (we're still trying to celebrate my birthday with PC friends and it was Jan 20)I just want to wake up and have it gone for good

Treatment for bronchitis and pleurisy may include rest, over-the-counter pain relievers, and cough suppressants. In more severe cases, antibiotics or corticosteroids may be prescribed.
