Cooking Illustrated Is Finally on the Ball.....

In summary, Cooks Illustrated Magazine recommends the use of the rectangular baker by Pampered Chef. It has good browning and does not retain food odors.

Hi everyone,

I don't know if any of you get his magazine but FINALLY they have added a piece of Pampered Chef Stoneware as a "recommended" piece of cookery to use. I've been reading this magazine ever since I graduated culinary school and this is the first time I've ever seen Pampered Chef recognized as a culinary tool and used by experts!

Just thought I'd share!

WOW!! Great plug for our team!!!

That is cool! I wonder why this isn't more publicized than the Extreme Makeover Home Edition thing?? Just because of the popularity of the show??

thanks

It probably hasn't been publicized yet because it seems it would not be something Pampered Chef would do themselves - it is a separate entity. Make sense?

Yes- but they publicize other types of articles like this that only feature a product.

I read on the WLPC2 board that it got 3 out of 5 stars because of the price.

The issue I saw it in was this month's issue with the persimons on the cover. The item was the rectangular baker. It did get 3 out of 5 stars and it said in the comments, "The browning, especially on cornbread and ginerbread was good and it's okay to cut foods with a knife right in the pan. Did not retain food odors, as might be expected from unglazed ceramic." I thought it was a pretty good review. I think it does more that what they mentioned, but all in all, not bad. All the recommended pans got three stars. Nobody got any higher. The website is www.cooksillustrated.com. I think the subscription is $19.95 for 6 issues. Kinda pricey but I really like it.

In Canada you can write off cooking magazine subscriptions on your taxes. Something to check out.

We can in the US as well. I saw it last year at tax time!
