Confessions of a Smiley Collector: Join the Fun and Share Your Emoticons!

P
Pampered Laura
Okay. I have a confession...
I collect smilies. You know, emoticons. Those little graemlins.
I have thousands. Seriously.
So... in an effort to feed my addiction, I want to see what you guys have, and maybe share some with you. Any takers?

Step One: Admit that you are powerless over smilies - they have taken control of your life.Step Two: Turn your life over to a higher power - Bill Gates isn't it.

Steps 3-12: To Be Announced at a later time

I love smilies, too! Although some of my favorites are too dirty to post here.

I love the smilies, but I just copy and past from the websites.

For most of the fun smilies you see, you can click on the smilie itself and follow the link. According to my friendly computer geeks (a term of endearment, I assure you), you're usually fine if you don't actually have to download the smilies. Mine are all cut and paste, so, no problem.

I download them all and then upload them to photobucket.
I dont like copying and pasting because it uses other people's bandwidth (which they have to pay for). ;)

Okay, Laura, you're now talking a completely foreign language to me.

I don't use the special smilies in my emails or anything, just here.

Actually, C&P just puts more characters into your posting and is no problem.Linking uses the source's bandwidth. Photobucket knows that and is set up for it.

Oh I thought you were saying you right click, properties, and c/p the image URL address. Thus, linking to someone elses bandwidth. My bad!

Don't use smilies usually but the above is what I wish was in IMs as a smiley. :)

Related to Confessions of a Smiley Collector: Join the Fun and Share Your Emoticons!

1. What inspired you to start collecting smilies?

I've always been fascinated by the way emoticons can convey emotion and add personality to online communication. As a scientist, I also find it interesting how they have evolved and become such a widespread form of expression.

2. How many smilies do you currently have in your collection?

As of now, I have thousands of smilies in my collection. I am constantly adding to it and always on the lookout for new and unique ones.

3. Do you have a favorite smiley or type of emoticon?

It's hard to choose just one, but I do have a soft spot for the classic :) smiley. I also love animated emoticons and ones that incorporate pop culture references.

4. Can we share our smilies with you?

Absolutely! I would love to see what smilies other people have collected and share some of mine as well. It's a great way to connect and bond over a shared interest.

5. What do you think is the future of emoticons and their role in communication?

I believe that emoticons will continue to evolve and become even more integrated into our daily communication. With the rise of social media and messaging platforms, emoticons have become a universal language that transcends barriers of age and culture. They will only continue to play a prominent role in how we express ourselves online.
