Bringing a Voice Recorder to Conferences: Is It Allowed?

In summary, you are allowed to bring a voice recorder to conferences, but it is recommended to check the specific guidelines or ask the event organizer beforehand. Generally, there are no restrictions on the type of voice recorder allowed, but some conferences may prohibit certain features. It is best to ask for permission before using your voice recorder during sessions, as some presenters may not allow recording. Privacy concerns should be considered when using a voice recorder at conferences, and it is important to be respectful and obtain consent before recording any sensitive or confidential conversations. Finally, it is best to clarify with the event organizer or presenter before sharing any recordings from the conference, as there may be restrictions or requirements for sharing recorded material.

are we allowed to take a voice/tape recorder to conference?
I am a HUGE note taker, but it would help alot if I could take a voice recorder and record my classes.

Good question. I'd like to know too. My DH bought me one for Christmas to say my ideas into, practice show stuff, etc. Would be nice to use for conference if I can.

I don't think you're allowed to bring voice recorders to the workshop sessions, because they have a company who professionally records and sells CDs from conference workshops every year.

One thing that helped me a lot last year was getting a collapsible keyboard for my PDA. I was able to type all of my notes (I type faster than I write) and save them on word documents on my PDA, and then I was able to share all of my conference notes with all of my cluster afterwards.

One of the NC communications says that you are not allowed to record the workshops or general sessions.

THAT SUCKS!
Just because I would like to put my own thoughts, etc. on notes and still referense exactly what I just heard.
My pastor records his teachings, and I have noticed that I get all jacked up if it isn't the same service I went to, because things are said in different sessions.

You can purchase a CD of the mp3s of a recording of one of every class at conference...I believe it is less than $30.

It seems most workshops give out pre-fab handouts, so taking your own notes alongside that shouldn't be too difficult.
