aPlea for "Bless and Release" After the Election Results Are Announced

In summary, the President-elect and government officials, whomever they will be, have a very tough road ahead. I ask that instead of posting negative comments and predictions of doom, please consider "blessing and releasing" if your candidate(s) of choice are not elected, and that you pray/send good thoughts to the incoming elected officials.

Let's get back to business - PC, helpful advice, encouragement, and KG's puns. :p

well said susan.

I'm at peace either way! :)

Oh KG....where are you???? ;)

I'm with you Susan.

Wonderful Wonderful Idea Susan - I totally agree - although we all won't be thrilled with the results, we have to accept them and move on, together as a nation.

Well I haven't been thrilled for the last 8 years so whomever wins...it will be a very welcome change.

My biggest concern is the political promise of "I will work on both sides of the aisle". Well, it takes more that one politician to do so. It's like being in a relationship and only one person being in love...it just doesn't work. No matter what party you are for...if our politicians don't work together, then they are not working for the majority of voters.

I like it Susan....I like it a'lot!

Sounds like a great idea! :)

Amen, Susan :)

I just have to say that there shouldn't even need to be a plea for that. I expected healthy debate, voting, a few comments afterwards on the political process/results and then done. The fact that we have to plead for debate to end after an event shows that we can't behave as adults.(Susan - nothing AGAINST your plea of course, I agree with when it is done, it's done...just sad - as a tone of the board - that you would think you have to ask.)

  • #11
I agree... we can't change who gets into office after the election ends, so why dwell on it

  • #12
Amen Susan, my wise friend :)

  • #13
You are absolutely right Susan...especially we can't change it, can we? Thanks for posting this...hopefully everyone can deal with it.

I totally agreed...and to the Christians on this board...remember, we are called to pray for whomever is elected...

  • #22
Amen! I know that is what we are all called to do no matter who is elected and both candidates will need all the prayer they can get, whichever one wins!

I do have to say, that the negativity and "obnoxiousness" on this board is soooo nothing compared to some other boards I've been on lately. Unbelievable how nasty things get other places. Seriously, this board is quite calm. There is one place in particular that I will not go back to after the election. I was helping some people get the word out and stave off the attacks by the opposition. I'm not kidding or being too sensitive. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not sensitive. Almost everyone here would be appalled by what was posted, no matter who you wanted to win.

It does not feel that way at ALL to me -- of course I don't hang out on any other boards so I have nothing to compare. There so much I stopped reading because I could not believe how hateful and nasty people were getting. I've just tried to to focus on the threads that help me with my business or add something positive and productive to my life.

Thank you, Susan, for starting this thread. I hope and pray that people (me) can bless and release. And I DO think it needed to be posted.

I agree JAE, this is VERY calm, cool, and collected compared to others. They are downright nasty!

I'm not negating Susan's thread. I'm just saying this board is not as bad as others.

Seriously, it was innocent. I joined a site to meet new people, hoping it would lead into making new PC contacts, a little hard to do when I can't post that I'm a consultant, etc. Anyway, there was a political discussion, and it got me to thinking about the other side of my state. The site is a network all over the country. I started reading and posting on that site, too. Then I also found a poster who posted on both sites, she started a thread in opposition to my opinions (not to my posts because I hadn't posted yet). It got me thinking further to go to sites in the "swing" states. She was on all of them. I found the main site and started clicking on all the different locations. She was everywhere, so I started responding to all of her threads. Many sites were very dull in the political discussions. Some were a bit more colorful in their discussions. But, one in particular was just absolutely obnoxious. So, of course, I had to join in. :) The ladies of like mind were very happpy to have me there because they were sooo tired of the group of meanies. One in particular was even obnoxious on non-political discussions. I let go on her once and was "scolded". They actually delete attacks and off topic posts. That's funny, because at least half of this site would be deleted. lol

Ditto- this board is a cakewalk... it's like the bubblegum princesses of internet boards!

If you don't believe us, go join a few other boards out there and you'll see what we mean...

Time for the country to heal from being so divided... I hope that we can all come together and be the great country that we are meant to be. That we can accept Obama as our President and support him and move our country forward from this point. I look forward to the tone of this board changing, and all of us reuniting as consultants here to support each other and help our businesses grow.

I believe there are two chances of this country coming together - and Slim is on a diet. At no time in our history have we ever "come together." The same request was made after the 2000 election and you've seen how well that worked. The party that is out of power usually makes a lot of noise - as the Dems have for the last eight years. Now it's the Republican's turn to be out of power and grass roots movement for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 probably starts today, just as the grass roots campaign for Hillary began in 2004.

One of the first things you're likely to see happen in the "spirit of healing" will be a move to re-instate the Fairness Doctrine, which could better be called the Shut Off Talk Radio Act. For some reason, people seem to think that if they can just make right wing talkers go away, everything will be just peachy.

I think the tone of the board has really been just fine - as long as you stayed out of the political and religion threads. The politics genie is out of the bottle, though, and unless people just stop creating, and posting in, threads of a political tone, you probably won't see much change.

  • #35
KG, I agree. It's a bit strange to start threads about politics in hopes that we stop talking about them.

Hoping lots of prayers are out there
Have a good day

I agree with KG. I totally expected (what was I thinking?!?!?!) this thread to be not necessary and to wake up to see everyone built a bridge and got over it.What I saw though was snide comments, people being called racist for a harmless joke! I'm sorry people, if you life up north by the farms you joke about pitchforks not guns. It was a total joke people! ...and do you even realize WHAT castle gates she was referrring to?Anyway, election over, on with life. We have a long road ahead of us no matter what your viewpoints are. Get back to working, earning a living, supporting your family and friends. Most of all WORK! Don't expect the government to take care of you and don't expect great things to happen with your PC business without hard work.On that note, take Susan's advice and move on...EVERYONE!Becky: That was me that posted the stock market trends awhile back...it will happen for a day or so then level out. KG's prediction will probably hold true again this round.

Janet, gird yourself for more comments like the one you mentioned. I predict that many people with the audacity to criticize any move of the President-Elect will be labeled a racist. Those you who wish to play the race card - do not overplay it, lest you turn it into a cry that no one pays any attention to.

I am! We were actually thankful not to be down in your area yesterday. We figured by some miracle if he lost, there would have been riots in Chicago. Glad all seems safe at least. It's sad that people have to resort to hatred vs. facts and that we cannot express opinions freely without attack.

I wish I could raise my children in another time, but this is where we are so I just have to teach them to love, work hard and hope they grow up well.

I too fear that those who don't agree w/Obama will be considered racist. My DD who attends a local college wore a McCain/Palin pin on her coat and really got some rough feed back on it. She is so not racist if people really knew her. Last night she received some jokes forwarded to her via text which were racist about Obama winning. She read them to me stating it sickend her. I told her I was very proud of her and even if we don't agree w/Obama's views we still need to respect him as our President and pray for him and his family's safety.

that has been the biggest concern of mine throughout this whole election. If you don't agree with Obama you are a racist. I am certainly not a racist. I have friends of all colors and walks of life. I have 2 nieces and a nephew who are mixed race. I am offended that people call me racist just because I voted for McCain. It had nothing to do with color. I have no problem with mixed marriages or anyone of color. My belief is that if God intended us to only marry our "color" we would all be the same color. Yes, these days children who are black/white are mistreated a lot of the time. But remember the day when indian/white was mistreated...when it was a disgrace for a white person to marry an indian...or what about our veterans who came home with an Asian wife. Times change and people are more acceptable of this today than in the past. It was wrong for them to not accept it. But, the human race has grown and learned from mistakes. Today I see white people getting the brunt of prejudice behavior. God made us different and unique for a reason. We are all the same in his eyes. So don't call me racist just because I don't agree with you. I don't agree with my white neighbor because he loved Obama does that mean I am racist toward him...that is just silly.
