Yes, it peels like it shows. I guess to do strings you would have to reset it to peel the potato more. It is durable. You can use the stand or mount it onto a counter. I love mine.KYCHEF said:When this thing peels potatoes does it peel it like the apple shown in the catalog picture? Real stringy? My church needs a peeler and curly fry maker for a festival. And the one's they have had in the past peel it really wide....am I making any sense at all? And are they durable. I need to know something so I can order for them ASAP. Thanks
Yes. Its the Corer/Peeler Blade.ShanaSmith said:I have heard that you can peel only, but if you are slicing, you are coring (?) The same blade does both jobs

The recommended thickness for slicing vegetables and fruits is 1/4 inch. This allows for even cooking and a consistent texture.
The best way to achieve thin slices for delicate ingredients is to use a sharp knife and to slice slowly and carefully. You can also try using a mandoline slicer for more precise and consistent results.
Yes, many of our slicing tools come with adjustable thickness settings. Make sure to read the instructions carefully to adjust the thickness to your desired level.
A julienne cut is a thin, matchstick-like slice, while a regular slice is a thicker, round cut. Julienne cuts are often used for stir-fries and salads, while regular slices can be used for a variety of dishes.
You can use a ruler or a measuring tape to check the thickness of your slices. If you are slicing too thin, the slices may break or become too translucent. If you are slicing too thick, the ingredients may take longer to cook and have an uneven texture.
