After Much Thought, I Have Decided to Have the Needle Biopsy Done.

In summary, Leslie is having a needle biopsy done on Thursday to determine whether or not there is a cancerous cyst on her breast. There is some confusion about whether or not the procedure can be done because the cyst is small. However, she will not be asleep, so please pray that she does not have a panic attack and that everything comes back okay.

After much thought, I have decided to have the needle biopsy done. They are going to do it Thursday, but there is some confusion on whether they can do it or not. The cyst is 6 mm and because it is so small they are unsure if they can get to it with the needle. I will not be asleep, so please pray that I don't have a panic atttck while I am there and that everything comes back okay.
Thanks,
Leslie

Praying. And I'm glad it's small. While you're having it done, calm yourself with the knowledge that 80 percent of breast lumps are benign.

Leslie...

Take a deep breath and calm yourself. I have had both a needle and a conventional biospy. Keep a positive thought in your mind. We are all with you.

Leslie, I will be praying for you too! Think happy thoughts!!!

You're in my prayers.I suck at medical procedures and in the past some of my doctors have prescribed Valium so I can get a good nights sleep or to at least calm me down before the procedure.
If you are that concerned about it, you might want to call your doctor tomorrow and see if that is an option (they shouldn't' freak out on you for requesting Valium, it would only be one or two pills)

Just wanted to let everyone know that the proceedure if finished. Hurt like a son of a gun and I am really sore and bruised. They couldn't do the aspiration like they had hoped. The doctor said he didn't think it was anything to worry about, but I won't have the results back until Tues.

I've had that done and I was in more pain than I thought could ever be possible. I'm glad I didn't find out anything about the procedure before I had it done or I never would have gone through with it!

Good luck getting your results back!

I don't know if it was Thursday, 5/1, that you were having the procedure done or Thursday, 5/8. Either way, you're in my prayers. Be sure to keep us posted. We really do care.

I just saw this thread and was reading thinking needle biopsies really hurt and was going to tell you to hang in there and NOT tell you it hurts like heck! Glad it is over for you! I hope the results come back fine!

I'm sure Tuesday seems like it's "forever" away. May time pass quickly, and may your result be a big fat negative!

You'll be in my prayers!

Related to After Much Thought, I Have Decided to Have the Needle Biopsy Done.

1. What is a needle biopsy?

A needle biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure in which a small sample of tissue is removed from a specific area of the body using a thin needle. This sample is then examined under a microscope to check for any abnormalities or disease.

2. Why would I need a needle biopsy?

A needle biopsy may be recommended by your doctor if there are concerns about a lump or mass in your body, or if there are abnormal findings on imaging tests like X-rays or ultrasounds. It can help diagnose various conditions such as cancer, infections, and autoimmune disorders.

3. Is a needle biopsy painful?

Most people experience minimal discomfort during a needle biopsy, as the area is usually numbed with local anesthesia. You may feel some pressure or a slight pinch as the needle is inserted, but the procedure is generally well tolerated.

4. How long does a needle biopsy take?

The procedure itself typically takes about 20-30 minutes, but you may need to stay in the clinic or hospital for a few hours for observation. This will depend on the location of the biopsy and your individual recovery process.

5. What are the risks of a needle biopsy?

The risks of a needle biopsy are minimal, but may include bleeding, infection, and bruising. Your doctor will discuss any potential risks with you before the procedure and take necessary precautions to minimize them.
